The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Yep. It's a bit cumbersome for browsing lonnnnng pages like threads, but it does work, unlike my old phone. More memory, I guess. Definitely will work as a means of getting my FR fix in a pinch. ;-) If the power ever goes out again, I'm set...

It's pretty sweet.

Oh, be my guest ... I lifted it from a MilBlog, and posted it 'cause I had to share ...

Well...the root of the beginning of the word is the same as succubus...which is...bawdy.

And it does sound kinda nasty, doesn't it?

Ungh...feels later than it is. And I accomplished nothing today.

We cleaned stalls, which is a good thing :~)

Other than that, we didn't do a whole lot here, either.

We'll just have to see about tomorrow :~)

Usually Saturday is when I accomplish stuff, and Sunday I'm just lazy and *maybe* do stuff like laundry.

But I wasted today on the phone deal. And mindlessly poking around FR. Dang, these Palantirs are good time wasters...

So I need to get groceries still. Maybe even get my oil changed if I get ambitious.

Yeah I got that vibe about the Powers Boothe character as soon as I saw him.

I sanded walls. And swept up about twenty pounds of sand. And read "Pride and Prejudice".

He likes Limburger cheese, too. I can't get past the smell!

When I was little, the grocery stores carried the small bricks of Philly Limberger cheese. The stink was incredible, and, with the silliness of a small child, I would dare myself to take a giant sampling of that stench every time I went into the store.

Oh, my, what a smell ...!

I love Wodehouse but I find him hard to find - has he been republished?

I forgot that "Pride and Prejudice" is such a good book. I like the movie of "Sense and Sensibility" better but Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth and much better than Marianne and whatsisname.

I dunno if he's been republished or not - I got this book from the library. It's a huge omnibus - five Wodehouse books in one.

Some of his books (but not the Jeeves and Wooster ones) are also on the Gutenburg Project website.

You gotta wonder who first discovered that particular strain or culture and decided it would be a good idea to cultivate it - on purpose! Gack!

I've got finches at my cheap plastic tube feeder...

...and the squirrels are left with what drops on the ground.

~sip~

All is as it should be.

Not here, it's not. I have woodpeckers, finches, sparrows, cardinals, a couple of blue jays, numerous starlings, and a friggin' RAT!!!!!

Now, how in the h-e-double-toothpicks am I going to get rid of this cat-sized rat?
