The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Hmmm, he should have stayed and tried to persuade the neighbors not to call the cops. Now he'll be in loads of trouble.

But leaving Oklahoma would be a hard blow to me.

Yes, it would, because you've made friends, and gotten used to the place. But I suspect you'll be able to 'be home' and make friends no matter where y'all end up. You'll all be together, in your own place. You'll maybe even be able to get that little bit of land you've always wanted!

Maybe he'll take the opportunity to get some help. One never knows.

Keep talkin' sis...it does help. :-)

Despite a few sad times, these past ten years in Oklahoma have been the happiest of my life...my entire life.

But I really would like that bit of land...which may even mean going somewhere else to make a slew of money so we can come back to Oklahoma and buy it someday!

Your tagline says it all, hon!

Join me in a cup of coffee? I'm taking a break from packing. Still trying to clear out the dining room where we stashed stuff from the rest of the house while working in the other parts. We're gonna start on the kitchen in the next week. We were going to tile the floor this week, but when we pulled up the vinyl, we discovered some damage to the subfloor because the carpenters didn't install the sliding door properly, and water has been seeping in for 18 years! So, as in all things remodeling, we changed course slightly. We're taking out the sliding door, which SirKit hated anyway, and we're going to put two double hung windows mulled together on two thirds of the wall, then a glass exterior door on the other third. So the whole back (East) wall will be essentially glass, and there will be an awesome view out the back, even better than it was before with just the 6' sliding door. But now we have to wait for this cold snap to pass so we can do that. Fortunately, Lowe's has the windows and door in stock, so we can pick them up anytime. After we install those, we're going to put some electric heating cables on top of the cement backerboard, then tile over that. Now I won't have to work on a cold AND hard floor in the kitchen; just a hard one. ;o)

It's a lot of work, but it's gonna pay off for us when we go to sell the house.

Heh...last night, we were watching Solent Green. There's a part in the movie where a big scooping machine slams down on top of a guy and smashes him, making a mess.

Joshua said "Ewww!! Is that blood?"

Matthew calmly replied "No, it's Solent Grease".

Heh heh!

Things getting back to normal? Doesn't it feel odd, kinda? Normal seems so far away when abnormal is going on!

I've had the dehumidifer on and a fan blowing in my shop for three days now...it's done a good job of drying everything out...

I'm sure it gives you some rather mixed feelings to get a note like that. Are you doing OK?

Definitely mixed feelings here. I'm down to the last dozen sheath knives, and last couple dozen folding knives. I can only console myself in that we have done good, and done far more than people who just used the words, "I support the troops".

In a lighter mood, one company has someone who is really good with Photoshop. Either that, or we have a top-secret brigade of hobbits. I guess even hobbits would wear boots in a rocky desert like Iraq. And no worries about hostile oliphants.

I left the URL on the front of the tank so folks might be tempted to visit the site. They make products with statements like this:
