The letter from his wife is especially heartbreaking. She is also a beautiful woman.

and - outside of this church - we're all supposed to care ... because ???? this is a most outrageous attack against Christianity by the SP's - basically the liberals think that Christians are stupid bigots and that by exposing this 9th tier evangelical leader any + all belivers will crawl under a rock until after the election. The contempt displayed by liberals in the past couple days, explaining why this will be so and their joy in going over it again & agin is equivalent to the liberals' contempt for the military recently put on display by Hanoi John Carry.

"If I were standing before you today, I would not change one iota of what I have been teaching the women of our church. For those of you who have been concerned that my marriage was so perfect I could not possibly relate to the women who are facing great difficulties, know that this will never again be the case. My test has begun; watch me. I will try to prove myself faithful."

She will prove her self faithful to God, her husband and her children. Just wait and see.

She's a better woman than I - I would've said to him :"Get thee behind me, Satan.",

And then got my kids out from under the punishment that should be his alone...

Ridiculous. She should kick his sorry ass out to the curb.

I thought this part of his exhortation to his flock of silly sheep was particularly telling:

1.) Please stay faithful to God through service and giving.

Once a greedy TV huckster, always a greedy TV huckster. Gotta pay the mortgage on the "parsonage" I guess.

I am responding to the letter from the preacher, not the person who posted this.

If you think Haggard was a Pharisee, think again. He was liberal on the environment and sought to keep government oversight OUT of personal choices. He's not conservative enough for me, not my type of pastor, but definitely no Pharisee.

It will be interesting to watch the lying-religious left on this. Yes, he committed sin and was caught, but unlike the long list of left-leaning and some right leaning politicians...his letter was a real apology and an example of how you take ALL the blame for yourself and not re-direct it like the John Kerrys of the world show us.

Something to think about without starting an argument.

How is it that these two people wrote letters and the name Jesus does not appear in either letter? Where are any scriptural references from the Bible? Do we know that they aren't placing their faith in the "Purple Rock of Pluto God"?

I'm always very leary of false profits. Now I'm not looking to judge but a Christian preacher should have said something about Christ's redemption. All these two did was speak about a generic God. They also managed to mention works and tithing.

So, I'm troubled about them. I'll pray for their peace and salvation but I don't think I'd ever follow them anywhere.

She should be the head of the Association...a truly wonderful Christian lady.

I liked this part the most:

Please forgive my accuser. He is revealing the deception and sensuality that was in my life. Those sins, and others, need to be dealt with harshly. So, forgive him and, actually, thank God for him.

A lot of media and even individuals seem to be figuratively rubbing it into Christians' faces. They don't understand that it is not hypocritical if a Christian fails at what he preaches. No Christian should declare himself to be perfect. If a Christian has difficulties with alcoholism, he should still be opposed to alcoholism, even if he occasionally succumbs to drinking.

I would much rather have posted this reply on the religion thread, but since it started here, I will post it here and hope for the best.

Ted Haggard's story is a reminder that all of us who claim Christ's salvation, need to be accountable to other Christians in whom we can place our trust.

Sin is a solitary act. Even though it may involve others, the Christian who falls into sin does it with stealth and the deception of those around him who know him and love him.

His letter even seems to indicate that he probably went through the accountability process, and somewhere, because of over-confidence or simply because he didn't want to continue with it, dropped out of it.

It doesn't make any difference what denomination you are, you need an accountability partner(s) who is not your husband or wife.

For those who may feel morally superior, don't forget that we are all human, and subject to failure.

Haggard did wrong.

He preached doing right and did wrong behind the scenes. The leftists have no problem with men who cheat on their wives with other men - e.g. McGreavey in New Jersey - just so long as there is no judgement, no morality or no ethics involved.

They're enjoying this specifically because Haggard said that one shouldn't but he did in secret. They want no curb on moral degradation. That allows them to pursue whatever perversity that they choose. And that is the overall reason for attacks on Christianity. Haggard's actions are completely acceptable, even desirable to the left. It merely helps them with their agenda.

I agree ... she needs to prove herself faithful to God, her children, and HERSELF.

Her husband is a fraud.
