The story line was feasible

How so? I only have a very vague idea about someone trying to release snakes on an airplane to kill someone.

What several people have said is that in a real situation where snakes were loose on a plane, they could turn on the air conditioning to lower the temperature substantially. The low temperatures would make the snakes very stiff, and they wouldn't be able to move well enough to be effectively aggressive. I only know of a few species that would really scare me in that situation. I've wondered how the movie got around those issues.

One last British old time recipe especially popular in the autumn/winter

Semolina Pudding

You can use coarsely ground rice, oatmeal, a small sago or cornmeal instead of semolina if you prefer

35 fl oz milk
3oz Semolina
Pinch of salt
2 – 3 oz caster sugar
Butter for greasing

Warm the milk in heavy bottomed saucepan. Add any solid flavouring if used to the milk and infuse for about 10 mins. Then remove

Sprinkle the semolina on to the milk stirring quickly to prevent the formation of lumps, Bring to simmering point, stirring all the time. Continue stirring and simmer for 15 – 20 mins or until the grain is transparent and cooked through.

Stir in the salt, sugar and any flavouring essence if used.

Serve the creamed semolina hot cold or pour into a well buttered 2 ½ quart pie dish and bake at 350F gas 4 for 20 – 30 mins until the top has browned.

Serves 6

Mrs Beeton Tip: Grated citrus rind, ground cinnamon, allspice or grated nutmeg may be added to the above puddings. Flavouring essences or liqueurs are equally suitable. A pinch of salt improves the flavour of all puddings.

Snugs tip: Lovely hot or cold with a spoonful of jam in particular strawberry or raspberry

Hi Dolly,

I'm doing well, thanks. Busy but otherwise happy, and I certainly can't let Halloween pass without wishing you a Happy Halloween.

Hope you are doing fine and enjoying the Fall season - more like winter if you ask me. ;-)

What I meant about the "STORY LINE" being feasible, was that of some DIFFERENT threat being on plane to take the plane down, which was the basis of the film. NOT just pilots taking it to a specialized target.

The goal in this movie was to take out a key witness with no regard if the rest of the passengers were killed in process.

The technical aspects were not what I meant.. and you are right re: temps/snakes. It had a lot in it Bill.. I do recall there was some type of apparatus attached to the snake area,(maybe heaters). Movies anymore have a lot of technical experts involved, to cover this sort of thing. I have been surprised when movies that are in my realm of expertise, if you will, are good!

Will pray for you for a good decision. How nice to have 3 to chose from & 3 good ones & where you want to be geographically!

Know there are a lot of folks here not completely happy with their job situation but for now are locked into a locale geographically. PLEASE keep us posted.

Phil is posting next weekends thread ...hope you can give us the final decision then, if it is done.

And phil.. perhaps if you continue doing the singles thread every 2 months or so you can use this for your toons? just a thought. you do have a following, just not the time/energy/spirit right now & sometimes backing away & doing things in a more limited way are good.

Hello guys....

Nice to be back(I guess..)

I have an idea, that came to me this weekend(Saturday night, to be exact.) It involves creating a little video, one that would demonstrate the total lunacy of the "food police", that are now seeking to ruin all of the food we consume in this land.

It would go something like this::

A pair of uniformed officials(one male and the other female) would drive around in a car, most likely a Toyota Prius or Honda Insight. The car would have the initials "DEA" on it. Under each capital letter would be these words:: Dietary Enforcement Administration. They would respond to calls on their car radio of "serious violations" and would then race to the "Crime scene", (such as a couple eating steak at a restaurant) and then, approach the "crime scene", saying' Stop!! You are in violation of code"xxx-xxx-xx" consuming a prohibited substance" please step away from the table, slowly". Then--the DEA officers would "confiscate" the "contraband" and in turn, "replace" it with some "approved" food-- like celery or tofu. They would chant.....as they left the scene" we are the here to save humnanity--from themselves....because we care!! AND- as they were leaving the "crime scene" a REAL crime would be taking place(such as someone getting accosted in a parking lot) to which they would be totally oblivious to.

This would continue, with the "DEA" raiding backyard cookouts, fast-food joint, school cafeteria and finally, a big pig roast, which would of course, cause them to shout "we need backup here". In route to and from each "crime" they would pass and ignore such real crimes such as a car theft, drug deal, robbery of a store, shoot-out, and finally, after the "raid of the pig roast" they would pass by Osama Bin Laden and his gang loading containers with the "radioactive" symbol on them into a truck--(having hijacked a military convoy) to which they would just wave--and head to their next "crime scene", chanting. We are hear to protect humanity..from themselves..because we care!!

Does that sound like something that someone could make into a good little video(say about 8-10 minutes or so??) I do NOT have the know-how to do so myself.

Okay, enough time has passed for you to know the end result. How did GF take to the fun plans (spreading stone) you had?

True test!

1) did she smile & help,

2)leave & tell you to call her when you had time for a "real date" or

3) just leave as she gave you a dirty look?

You and Ilovew, share the honors of yukky jobs on this passed weekend!

Whether or not you have a GF or wife or whatever, you are welcome to join us. It is for singles & "their friends".. we have several married regular participants
