Yankees down to their last 27 outs!

Posted on 10/06/2006 9:02:44 PM PDT by ElTiante

Ok Seriously.

I've never been a fan of the guy, but wow did Rogers look sharp tonight. 7 2/3, 0 runs, 8K. He really had something to prove tonight and did he ever.

A-Fraud AKA Mr March, went 0-3 and is batting .125 for the series.

Watching the Yankees lose NEVER GETS OLD!

I bored my wife for about 20 minutes last night raving about how sweet the Detroit home unis are.

Dump her if it bored her. Just kidding.

Maybe you can tell me -- what's with the home unis being only navy and white, but the road unis being navy, orange and white? Even the "D" on the cap turns orange on the road. What gives?

Until they changed their logo a couple of seasons back, the Padres wore orange and blue. Starting in 2002, they did the "orange only on the road" bit.

Interviewer just asked Leyland who he would start in the NLCS. He answered, "....I got three managers on this team, they tell me they won 95 games, I lost 67, so I'll have to check with them."

Earlier in the interview he started to say he was "pr...." , (he was going to say "proud of", I think)then he said "I'm happy with the way this team played." I found it interesting that he chose to stay away from that word "proud". He's a thinker.

Wow. Rough room there in the Apple.

He's from Miami, I think. Selling point for a franchise on the market?

I think he's worth more than the Marlins franchise.

I think of Randy Johnson as Sampson: once he cut his hair, he was never the same. He's always had a bad back.

Hell, give me the Marlins anytime over A-Rod...

I'm sure Steinbrenner is busily looking for another 40 something pitcher he can spend millions on this off season.

Despite their home game venue, the official name is New York Jets and New York Giants. Solely on that pretext, her curse applies. You're right: that IS potent.

At least they'll do something in October when they get the chance.

Zito will be a Yankee come spring training.

Expect them to try to keep Mussina who had a good year for them. They will likely try to buy more bullpen help.

If they can keep their line up together (expect Sheffield to go) then they have to be considered the favorite next year if they bag Zito.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire -- who won't be recognized as one of the best managers in baseball until he gets out of Minnesota -- started to say in a post-elimination interview yesterday that the Twins gave "their best effort" and then stopped himself, saying that they always give the effort, but don't always perform as they should.

It's nice to know that some coaches and managers are making a concerted effort to avoid the cliches. Now if we could get college athletes to speak English clearly ("Y' knowwhatI'm sayin'?")

The Sox would love to be down in the $100 million range and will likely be there in two years after they get out from under some contracts.

Didn't Georgie Porgie guarantee a championship for the Skanks this year????

YES, I heard him say that... who else heard it?

Which is why I hope the Mets win tonight. Steinbrenner wouldn't be able to stand the double headline:

METS SWEEP/YANKS OUT!
