Guardian ^ | September 28 2006 | Bobbie Johnson

When Bill Clinton made his speech to the Labour Party conference, he bamboozled a few by finishing with the word "Ubuntu".

Clinton heard the term "open source", but didn't catch the word "source"

Or maybe he thought "Open sores, well that must mean she's easy, where is she?"

It's OK.

He's a sports talk radio host. A sometimes controversial one, but he's easily the highest rated host on sports talk radio today.

Admittedly he's an acquired taste.

So what, no different than some foreign car dealer here in the U.S. you'd buy from in a split second if you thought the price was right

I believe we've been over this before. For example, the Ford Mustang, a bunch of Chevys and GMs (is yours one of those?) don't really even qualify as Made in America. By pretty much any metric but the brand name, the "foreign" Toyota Camry is more American than those cars.

So if he's going on GMC brand and it was assembled in Texas, that would probably make it a Yukon. Looking it up ... that means more than 30% of his American car is foreign parts. IIRC, the Toyota Camry is more American.

It's the same with Linux. It has foreign origins, yet I'd bet most of the enterprise-ready features are made in America.

No need to let something as unimportant as facts get in Iggle's way...

That reminds me--I'm going to download the new Slackware 11 DVD...

I'd be interested in any improvements you happen to notice. I'll give the mirrors a few days to cool down, and will download it and give it a whirl in vmware.

From what I've read on Distrowatch, it's relatively cutting-edge--which I find a tad strange given that Pat has explicitly stated he prefers to only include stable, tested things in Slack.

"But you go even farther and constantly push these foreign clones on us, to which I object."

Yeah, we push you to boot up your computer, come to Freerepublic.com, open the Linux threads, and read stuff you disagree with.

We have that kind of power over you. Amazing, huh? Guess someone should do something about us.

Moron.

Believe me, if I could push you to do anything, I'd push you to find a hobby or develop some personal relationships so you'd go elsewhere and let the adults talk for a while.

Not only that, but we force him to use Linux just by coming here!

And here sits Lead Chicken, still to chicken to address the problems with proprietary licenses.

And UNIX was inspired by Multics, which was created by a Russian named Victor A. Vyssotsky.

And your truck parts were made in Mexico, and your TV was made in Japan, and certain components in the computer you're now using were made in many different places around the world.

And you still wrap yourself in the American flag and shout down those who use a foreign operating system.

It hurts when your own double standards bite you on the a$$.

I have a GMC with a sticker in the door well with a picture of the great state of Texas, that says "Built in Texas by Texans".

Wow, you believe in stickers... It should say Assembled in Texas, My father worked at GM for thirty years and his #1 complaint was not people buying foreign cars it was the fact most the part fabrication was done in Brazil / china / other.
