In an blockbusting EXCLUSIVE interview on Dateline NBC, correspondent Matt Lauer sat down with Debra Lafave, the 23 year-old teacher who had sex with a 14 year-old boy on several occasions which made national headlines.
For some ungodly reason, NBC decided this was a groundbreaking story that needed to be told to America. I have one question…
Why is Debra Lafave on television?
There have been notable people who have earned the right to recognition. Sport’s heroes, movie stars, business and religious leaders, respected politicians and cultural groundbreakers have all proven worthy of the media attention paid to them. That is why we feel we know Michael Jordan, Jennifer Anniston, Donald Trump, Reverend Billy Graham, John McCain and Simon Cowell. Mat Lauer deperately trying to stay stay out of profile (nose and chin issues) is lots more interesting.
Seriously the only guest he is minimally able to interview well is someon like this poor exxuse for a female: existentially lost, seriously sick, and chock full of psychotropic drugs. That and the cooking segments.

and "Bullet" may go on and get her degree, start her own business, buy a house, get married (or not), make a fortune and live a good life etc.... And walk into the home town Piggly Wiggly to see the priss posts who gave her hell running the cash registers, and Studly who blabbed working in the stock room in the back. (true story, damn.... life is good at times ;) )
There's LOTS of reasons for not going to the prom, and being fast is only one of about 100.
There's no reason not to live your life.

3 cheers for you! That young boy has more than likely been emotionally destroyed by that woman. And society treats it like the boy's emotional health means absolutely nothing. Society should be so ashamed of their twisted, perverted selves...

Matter of fact I believe there IS a double standard in our judicial AND social approach to this crime...
And the responses, minus the ones (including mine) that are meant to be off-color, are really meant to be poking fun at the whole spectacle of the incident...

I actually went to the prom twice,
I caught hell for reasons other than sex, and I wasn't labled fast..... I was however, labled a rebel....and I rebelled against the fundy mores and the conservative hypocracy that was my world.
And yes, one of those good'ole boys who bragged about stuff that never happened is an alcoholic butcher at the local IGA. Same with the prissy girl who sat next to me on the bus regularly told me I was going to hell...She's still cranky and looks it....

Believe me, when the paragons of virtue all around you are the ones patting you on the bottom or unzipping their pants around you....and you're a really smart girl.
You get scared, then you get mad....then you just turn mean and fight back.

A boy/young man that is over 6' tall would more than likely have the equivalant maturity.
But I ask all these 'poor poor 14 year old' (not that I am lacking sympathy myself), but if this 14 year old shot an old woman in point blank range and showed no remorse, would he be getting as much sympathy as a victim that didn't know what he was doing?
Oh, give me a break....in older times, people were married close to that age. let me be the first to say that we are creating this problem with our schizo society....On one hand, all our media does is talk about sex...sex, sex, sex,sex...and then, when kids do it, we tell them how wrong it is! What on Earth do we expect?

In OLDER times? You mean when we only lived to be about 50 MAX. Or when we HUNG these pervs from the closest tree? SUre, in older times Mohammad had sex with a 7 year old that he prepped since she was 4. I guess that was ok too. Do not justify wrong with other wrongs.
Keep in mind, there are MANY things adults do that children do not. So, with your logic, I guess a 14 year old should drive also. Maybe drink liquor? How about vote. Enter into a few contracts?
