The Hobbit Hole XXXI - Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Wind's supposed to pick up tomorrow. :-\ But I think they've lowered the wind speed forecast slightly.

So, I took Luke to see The Santa Clause 3. Feel free to wait for the DVD.

It was a bit disconcerting because Elizabeth Mitchell plays Mrs. Claus (she did in SC2 as well). If you don't recognize the name, she's Juliet on LOST.

Nowhere near as charming or fun as the first movie, or even the second one. But Luke liked it.

But then a little more than halfway through the movie, we heard this child crying and she wouldn't stop. Finally the ushers came in to help.

Then the movie stopped and the lights came on. Apparently this child, about 3-ish, had managed to get herself stuck in the seat and neither she nor her parents could get her out. So, they had to dismantle the seat. The move resumed about 20 minutes later.

So, there's that.

We went and saw Borat and I'd recommend the same. But only watch the DVD in the same company with which you'd watch South Park or worse. Some parts were very, very, very, very funny. Others were, well, you just saw too many, um, parts.

Overall very crude. Funny, but crude.

We gave her a tube of Tryptofan though :~)

Why not just feed her a big old turkey? Sure works on folks at Thanksgiving! ;o)

Seriesly, I hope y'all can get it figured out. I'd hate to think she could hurt herself if she got into a frenzy.

Heh...did you find yourself with some trust issues?

Ruh, roh. Poor little kid, I'm sure she was terrified!!

Haven't seen any of the Santa Clause movies. I figured I wasn't missing much.

Did you see the movie Chrismas with the Kranks? It was ok, but the book on which it was based, "Skipping Christmas" was really good. See if you can find the book on CD or Audio tape at the library, and listen to it. Dennis Boutsikaris narrates it. It had its slapstick moments to be sure, but it was poignant, as well.,

Have you seen the movie, Everything is Illuminated? It was a very good film starring Elijah Wood as a young Jewish man who goes to Russia to find something of his grandparents' past.

Actually we like the movies. The first one especially. It's just one of those magical feel good Christmas movies. The 2nd one was okay.

3 was overreaching.

Although, it was kind of fun to see Ann-Margaret playing Santa's mother-in-law.

Maybe I'm a Scrooge, but I don't like most of the more modern Christmas movies. There are a few I do like; Miracle on 34th St., the original and the remake, It's a Wonderful Life, White Christmas, and The Christmas Box. I'm sure there are some others, but I usually don't go to the movies to see them. Either they're TV specials, or I watch the DVDs.

I WILL check out The Nativity, which is being made. I read a good article about it in the NY Times movie review section the other day.

She was lucky to have not hurt herself. So far so good tonight.

I don't think she'd eat a turkey :)

We're just a group of friends that met here and started talking about Lord of the Rings movies when they were coming out... That was prolly 5 years ago now. Now we mostly chit chat, get together with each other from time to time and once in awhile, get married :~)
