Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Somehow I knew that was coming.

I take comfort in the familiar routines.

he celebrated his fifth morning as a Discrete Entity by shotgunning a substance almost, but not quite entirely, unlike mustard out of his toches. I hate to admit that the first time I saw such a substance coming out of a newborn I screamed that the child needed to go to the emergency room immediately.
Boy, was my face red!

Oh, yes, this is high (low?) space opera!
Sex, violence, weird alien planets, psychic abilities, sharp edges, and military foo ... it's all in there! And no Prime Directive to get in the way ...!

That's kind of where my current story would fall, I guess.
It's set in the future and there are space ships and all...but it's more about the people than anything else. I don't attempt to explain fancy technology. It's just there. ;-) More of a setting than what the story is about, so it's far from hard sci-fi.

I attempt rational science fiction while talking about people issues ...
Gift is going to examine these five women's relationships with the men in their lives, and with one another.
It should be very wordy ...!

You know, Nora Roberts has written twenty-two (I think ... maybe twenty-three) novels set in 2059, and she has yet to explain any of the tech ...

You haven't officially proposed yet, have you?No. We are, however, so far in agreement that the proposal will be a formality, likely staged for the amusement and "shucks and awww" of others present.

I was not present at the exhibition, but received the report from proud papa, who remarked on the range achieved, and who is thinking of putting up some sort of splash shield (like a salad bar sneeze guard, and for a similar purpose) around the changing venue.
Andrew is his first, but his wife's third; she was moderately amused, since it has been eight years since one of hers did likewise.
The kids, of course, thought it was the absolute worst, and therefore most hilarious, form of scatological slapstick (these kids still giggle if someone refers to "underwearrrr!" out of context).

Heh, I know what that stage is like! Of course mostly that was just because I didn't think online ninja proposals should count.

<snicker> Yeah ... the murder scenes!
The best In Death murder scene was the one with the power drill! Creative and resourceful!
BTW ... the next book, Born In Death, is coming out Election Day. <smile>
