Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

~laughing and sounding like something dying~

Heh heh...if I'd had the time, I mighta got in a brawl with someone (it's been pent up for years, you know...) but I had to keep up with the V-dubs and honestly, we were at a pretty steady gallop! I just kept going, leaving them screaming.

Well, I got my shopping done, couldn't find what I wanted to get, even asking was hard, because my voice is a barely audible croak. So I came home, ate lunch and a rather large Snickers bar. Now I'm going to putz in the garden a bit...the collards are up. Then, when Steve gets home, it's to the shop!

See ya!

"I told them next year, we'll have my Beetle running and I'll drive it and they can just sit in the back seat, eat great handfuls of candy and stare at the crowd! LOL!"

Let them toss candy from the car and the kiddies fight over it.

Heh...I've got collards going on the stove and the'cue has been smoking since this morning. I'm waiting for the race to start.

I finally lifted the calladium bulbs. The weather is so nice that I've got all the windows open: a perfect sunroom day!

not to give a rats patootie

Ever wondered where this figure of speech came from? What the heck does it mean? And if we give a rat's patootie, who are we giving it to? Who ~takes~ it?

Somehow, I don't think "patootie" was the original expression.

That said, this afternoon I get to...work on a pinewood derby car, carve pumpkins, change the fish tank, bake a cake, balance the checkbook, file some other paperwork fix jr's playstation, and maybe do some campaign stuff...

I have no idea why I'm sitting here.

(see y'all later)

We just cleaned off our front lawn and driveway. It looks good. We had to though, it was covered and the big oak tree has hardly begun to shed.
