The Hobbit Hole XXXI - Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

It ain't his land. It ain't my land.

It was fortunate that the wife took the call instead of me.

I'm *this close* to starting a blog on the sights and sounds of American Airports. Fashion "dont's" will be a key feature.... (followed by cell phone etiquette.) Alas. I just don't have the time.

Heh... that's not a bad idea. Southwest had a pretty good thing going with that "Airline" show. It really showed my main pet peeve... that the greatest problem with air travel isn't the airline staff, or even the security staff, or any of those things. The hassle can be reduced to a tiny level if you just pay attention, follow the rules and don't do stupid stuff that creates hassles for you.

The biggest problem with air travel are all those other #@$!ing stupid passengers with short fuses... just spoiling for a fight.

It's just not that hard to breeze through an airport and through security. But dang it if just about every time there some ditz who's worn every piece of cheapo jewelry they own, and some kind of stainless steel corset... who pretends that its the poor little pimply faced TSA screener's fault that they've got to take a half hour to clear security.

IMHO.

That is pretty universal. Same sort of people that blow up and a poor minimum wage store clerk when there is something not in stock that they want. I have been pissed off at airport staff before. With good reason a couple times. But I swallowed it hard and was tolerable to them and ended up getting where I was going. I hate self inflected stress. Which covers most stress in the world.

I use to breeze through security but now with the taking shoes off thing It takes longer. I am going to have to start flying in house slippers.

I haven't sunk to house slippers yet, but I do choose my shoes with care. They have to 1) slip off easily and 2) be worn with socks so that I have some protection against the toe-jam living in the carpet at the security line.

These are my newest acquisition for sprints across ATL and DFW:

Slip-on shoes. :-)

And a jacket with zillions of pockets. I carry ~everything~ in my jacket and nothing in my pockets or on my belt. slip off the jacket and run it through the machine... slip the shoes back on and... presto.

the only time I've been wanded in the last couple of years was a time that my hand accidently brushed the metal detector as I was passing through it [sigh] twice. That tweeks out the machine, I came to learn. Now I make sure to keep my hands in front.

Yeah...it was at a little dinner theater sort of place. Tables, and a small raised stage. I wasn't more than a few feet away from him.

I still don't understand how he does most of what he does. Like I said, he ain't human.

One of the best concerts I've *ever* been to, for sure.

I have a couple of these:

http://www.scottevest.com/

The ultimate travel jacket. Pockets galore. Can carry all manner of stuff but doesn't look packed. I've got one of the regular black v.4 jackets, and the leather "Milan" jacket that I'm wearing now, as it would happen.

The coolest thing: It has wire management. Hides all the wires for your electric goodies. Freaking cool, that.

:-)

Heh. It is a purse. Just one that you wear all around you. :-)

I don't think a purse would work with my [ahem] style. Sure... I travel to SFO and everything... and it wouldn't even get ~noticed~ there. But still. :-)

LOL - it takes a very secure man to admit to that.

I use to wear a vest there all the time but my light one is olive drab. And I did not want to atract un due attention for looking too paramilitary (I would already have cargo pants or BDUs on). I need to get a vest in beige.
