We also discussed the fact that I was the first to meet g'nad and he had the most potential to be one...
I'm pretty sure they're a good five years younger.
I knew that Jen had mentioned that her parents married young and started having kids right away, so you could be right. SirKit and I were 29 when David was born, so they're likely at least 8 yrs or so younger than we; that would put them in their mid-forties.
LOVE all the new pictures, especially the ones of their families.
why thank you... thank you very much... /Elvis voice
yuh know... the first thing an axe murderer does is lull yuh intuh a false sense of security...
And I think this is where I point out that I didn't accept yer second invitation...
a second invitation was never offered... you were a few sizes to large for me to make a skin shirt out of yuh...
You know... I never thought any of ya were axe murderers...
ROTFL!! You two are hilarious!
They sure did. Did they grow those gorgeous RED sunflowers as well? Those remind me of 'Indian Paintbrush', which I intend to plant as soon as I have a yard at which I plan to stay.
Woo-hoo! Just bought the first halfway decent set of speakers I've ever owned...they even have a subwoofer, which I've never had before.
It's really freaking poor Cisco out, though. His usual nap spot is under the desk, and he doesn't know how to take this thumping box thing. Maybe will have to turn it way down and get him used to it slowly...
Congratulations!
hope so... just got 4 acres of fall foodlots intheground...
mmmmm..... food plots....
Only bout a third of an inch but beats just thunder..
The drive to Pittsburgh was lovely. The drive through eastern MD is always pretty, especially with all the patchy fog in the early morning light. I did great until I hit the little town where the wedding would take place. It's a perplexing place. It's a town desperate to have its roads set on a grid. It tries so hard, but fails. I found the wedding location right off - sorta - and then drove around town for about an hour just looking around. I found the cutest little shop called "Joy's Japanimation and Comics." I had to smile.
I managed to find a parking spot but, like Corin, couldn't find the entrance to the chapel which is in a complex of several buildings. I found a staffer who walked me through the building to the right elevator.
Jen's brothers were ushering and doing a fine job of it. I found Corin already seated and said hello. The chapel had baroque stylings and lots of stained glass (vey traditional Catholic). I love stained glass, it lends a timeless quality to the light inside. The pews were wooden and hard and creaky. :) Everyone looked sharp and very happy.
The music for the processional was Pachebel's Cannon in D. Everyone started getting weepy when the groomsmen entered. They looked so dapper, especially Talon - as is fitting. The bridesmaids, Jen's sisters, wore a lovely light sage. The flowers were seasonal varieties in wonderful warm colors. The flower girls were Talon's nieces (correct me if I'm wrong) and cute as buttons. The ring bearer was Jen's youngest brother. He did so well, everyone was so proud. I got a bit choked up, too.
And then Jen came in on her Dad's arm. It was an emotional walk down the aisle. Jen was absolutely radiant. Her dress and veil were perfect. I lost it when Jen and Talon took each other's hand and knelt at the alter. The priest wore relatively simple vestments, but he did start out with "Marriage. Marriage is what brings us together today...." Corin and I giggled. I don't think very many people got the reference.
The rest of the ceremony was lovely. The cantor had the sweetest voice and sang with love in her heart. The readings were perfect. The homily was well-done - lots of good advice for the young couple. There was such love and devotion on the couple's faces when they exchanged vows and rings. *sigh* Perfect.
Afterwards, Corin and I met the receiving line and gave Jen a big hug. While we were waiting for the wedding photos to start, Corin and I started making plans for the shooooooes. We stuck around and snapped some of the photos you see on the other site. Corin's came out quite well. Most of mine had people with their eyes closed or their mouths open, etc. heh. Folks wouldn't hold still! :) That and Corin has an excellent angle on the world being so tall.
The reception was being held in a park. I had google-mapped the area looking for the park and couldn't find it. No worries, I told myself, there will surely be directions at the wedding. Sure enough, directions, but no mileage. Corin and I set out following the directions. We stopped a couple of times puzzling over whether we had seen the signs we were supposed to see, maybe we had missed a turn, or had further to go. We got there eventually and we didn't miss a turn. The park was perfect. The family and caterers had set up at a pavilion. White balloons and sunflowers. We took the shooooooes over for some quick shots. This raised some eyebrows, but we assured them that Jen and Talon would get the joke. We put them away before the rest of the family arrived.
The party was wonderful. Talon and Jen are excellent minglers and took the time to chat with us. Had a lovely conversation with Empress - who has made great progress remodeling her apartment and owes us some pics! The families were just delightful - gracious and bursting with pride over their great kids. The toasts ranged from tear-jerkers to geeky-sweet. Everyone agreed that there could be no more perfect couple than Talon and Jen. The couple danced and ate cake, gave each other lovey-dovey gazes, and even smooched. *sigh* They stayed at the reception longer than I expected, but when they finally left, they sped off into the sunset. teehee.
Not long thereafter, Corin and I took our leave and consulted the map to figure out where the heck we were and what route we'd take to get back. Corin's GPS worked out ok. Turns out the reception was much closer to my hotel than the wedding was! Once I got there, I checked in and started posting here! I'm going to have to go back and redo some of those pictures, I was getting a bit cross-eyed. I haven't figured out how to use all of the features on my camera so some of the exposures were just wacky. Thank goodness for Photoshop. Unfortunately, *all* of my indoor pictures were blurry, and not amount of photoshopping will fix them :(.
So, to wrap up a long, rambling post - it was quite a day. A wonderful, joyful day. I feel so humbled and privileged to have been there to share in their special day. Many prayers for their happiness!
Great report, Lil - thanks!
And thanks for the pictures!
So...
No word from the happy couple?
Not yet. Must be that they're...*ahem*...busy.
