Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Yeah there is a place. I have not been there in a while but I seem to recall it being over by Hawkeye downs on the SW side. Off the 33rd st exit, right, left just passed the taco bell, on the right side just passed the junkyard. I might be remembering wrong though.

Got the call. There are some SERIES things that are mildly HUGH, but at least they're going to actually fix it. Makes me really ticked off at the last place that looked at it, though. Apparently I've lived with this for no reason at all, and probably paid a lot more than I should have for what they *did* do.
Though I know almost nothing about cars, I get nervous when tie rod ends are mentioned - I understand that's really not something you want to go bad. Sounds like it's a really good thing I brought it in when I did. They're going to fix the front brakes and do an alignment, too. Should make a *world* of difference in how it handles. No more feeling like I'm trying to drive a busted grocery cart at high speeds - yay!
He said the front suspension has some worn parts and could use maintenance at some point, but it's not critical. And the battery is getting old, too, but I kinda knew that.
To: HairOfTheDog
I'm working tomorrow...but then I get another weekend. ;-)
To: RosieCotton
Fair enough... I suspected tie rods.
If the battery is going, that will get you on the first cold morning... that's worth a trip to Sears at the Lacey mall. I don't think you can beat Sears for batteries.

I just bought all sorts of cool stuff at BB&B. Now I have to decide what to make for dinner. I stopped at Target for another of those spinny cabinet things and checked their grocery section... they have almost all the ingredients I need to make stuff in the Chinese cookbook. Like wonton and eggroll wrappers... I think I will try something out of there tonight. Sweet and sour chicken maybe but I don't know how well that will reheat for lunch. Want me to just make one dinner's worth and we can have a sandwich or something together tomorrow?
Also BB&B did not have the mixing bowls I wanted, but Target had the perfect set for $10 - they're ceramic and everything, whereas the ones at BBB were three times that much for plastic. Go figure.

Cool! Great loot. I got some too. The company technical library was giving away massive amounts of books and I have several piles of old engineering texts in my car.
The dinner plans sound good to me.

I don't think you can beat Sears for batteries. We had a Sears battery once that went out on us. My Daddy joked that it Died Hard. *snort*

Neat! More books huh. We are going to need more bookshelves soon.
Going to run some laundry now and see how the drain does.

Well, they replace them though, if that happens :~)
To: HairOfTheDog
Yeah, I know. Sears used to be real good about that. Don't know if they still are. We bought some tires from them once and they wore out too quickly according to their expected lives. Sears gave us a weighted refund, and we were able to use that against the purchase of some new ones.
SirKit has always like their tools; the Craftsman brand always had a lifetime warranty. I don't know if they still do, or not.

They do, on both counts...

Maybe they'll give us a replacement.

I'm just goofing off and waiting for Goodyear to call back.
I can't say just *how* happy I am with the idea that I may be able to drive without fighting the vehicle at all times! What a concept...
To: RosieCotton
Is that allowed? You'd better check... driving a vehicle easily? Whoa.

That is the problem with problems that sneak up on you. You just learn to live with them and they have to get really bad before you fix them :P I hate that. I am too good at procrastinating
To: TalonDJ
What makes me cranky is that this one has been a problem since right after I got to Fort Collins. And the guys there kinda mislead me about how hard it would be to fix, so I've put it off.
Oh well. It will make driving a far less tiring and aggravating experience. I should have done it sooner, though.
To: RosieCotton
I should have done it sooner, though.Well, it's done now, so get yourself a couple of those little side-view mirrors, and you'll feel much more confident on the road! They are just peel and stick, so you could sit in the driver's seat, and Hair or ecurbh could hold them onto the big side-view mirrors so you can get just the right view, then they could stick them on for you!

For any of you who harbor the desire to hijack some obnoxious TV show (like CNN news) in a public location:

It detects the infrared coding scheme used by a particular TV, and then lets you take control.
For $14, I may get one just so I don't have to be subject to CNN News while waiting for my mom in the doctor's waiting room.

"Please refrain from pooping in this bathroom so we can keep it nice for visitors." Heh. A sign like that has lots of potential. Lots. Might put one on my office door.
