Is the DNA matches that will prove he was involved but that brings up a lot of new questions.

Is he the guy? Flip a coin.

Geee. Now I'm glad that's all cleared up.

I believe others testified otherwise, IIRC. The mother was fingered in the analysis, wasn't she?

This is getting more and more bizarre as the days progress, H. Popcorn? I'm making a new batch. A cold one? Rolling Rock Draft (pre-AB) on ice...

>>>although the validity of his confession is being questioned by those investigating the case due to inaccuracies in his testimony.>>>

What testimony?? You have rantings at a circus like press conference. No testimony!!

I don't believe that they would have dragged this man half way around the world if they did not believe he was AT LEAST somewhat feasible as a suspect. The talking heads sometimes talk just to hear themselves talk.

I read the whole story. It's interesting that similar to what others have observed, you can find quite a few individual letter similarities, while at the same time the general style of the two writings looks different. According to this expert, that is what he found upon analyzing the yearbook writing and the ransom note, along with other samples.

According to this story, the examiner compared the (unknown) handwriting on the ransom note to the handwriting on two known samples of the subject's writing.

I have been told by other people who are are certified document examiners that a minimum of a dozen known samples of a particular individual's handwriting are generally required to make a valid interpretation of the unknown.

This issue came to the forefront in the Vincent Foster case, when a Capitol Police handwriting examiner mistakenly ruled that the "suicide note" miraculously discovered in Foster's White House office nearly a week after his death was written by the decedent. It was pointed out then that the opinion was based on insufficient quantity of known samples. Two years after Foster's death, three highly respected forensic document examiners - without previous access to the "suicide note" - determined unequivocally that the supposed Foster "suicide note" was a third rate forgery!

I googled "Don Lehew" and came up with a synopsis of a Texas Monthly article on him back from July 1992. That's not funny -- but what is funny is the cover of that month:

Little did we know that not only would Governor Richards not run for President, but that the guy who beat her for re-election would be elected President TWICE!

Local handwriting expert says he believes Karr wrote ransom note

Local phrenologist claims a cast of Karr's head shows him to be the one.

Is this the same analysis that was reported in the POST today or is there a second that says they match?

I need DNA proof!

And no, I don't believe your handwriting can determine if you are a pedophile or have the p[propensity to be one - so much for this handwriting expert.

“Over the last three years, by collecting samples of known pedophiles, I have created a profile, by identifying the things that are common in their handwriting,” Lehew said. “I’ve looked at writing samples from 23 or 24 known pedophiles to create this profile. I’ve been doing this research for about three years.”

According to Lehew, his profile cannot identify if a person is a pedophile, only that they possess the propensity to be or become one.

handwriting expertize is questionable.....

given the power of suggestion, I'll bet tons of people could fit.....thousands or millions of people...

and then there's me.....I don't think I write the same way from the beginning of a sentence to the end....

having said that, I am so hoping the place this pervert in Boulder.....because, I sense that he did do it and if not this murder, I'll bet he did others.....

I would never question the foremost handwriting expert in Mt. Selman, Texas.

In fact I will have to set my TiVo to record the next episode of "C.S.I Mt. Selman."

I'd feel a lot more confident about his analysis if it was a 'blind' comparision.

His conclusion is similiar to Karr being the only person in a lineup at the police station. "Is this the man who assaulted you?"
