Nearly a decade since her brutal murder in the basement of her parents’ home, the JonBenet Ramsey case was once again thrust into the public eye last week, when authorities arrested John M. Karr for the murder of the six-year-old girl. Since his arrest, Karr has confessed to the murder of Ramsey, although the validity of his confession is being questioned by those investigating the case due to inaccuracies in his testimony.
Local handwriting expert Don Lehew, of Mt. Selman, has obtained several samples of John M. Karr’s handwriting, as well as, a copy of the Ramsey ransom note, and according to his analysis, they are all written by the same person. Lehew compared the ransom note to an old yearbook entry by Karr and an employment application Karr filled out when applying for a teaching job.

I don't believe that they would have dragged this man half way around the world if they did not believe he was AT LEAST somewhat feasible as a suspect. The talking heads sometimes talk just to hear themselves talk.
The Boulder cops and Alex Hunter apparently concluded...with their experts I guess...that Patsy could have written it. It was not as certain as "fingering her", however. And a Grand Jury disbanded after hearing evidence in the case, much of it conflicting, and returned no indictment.
The simplest answer is usually the right answer. Who had done harm to JBR's head in the past? Who could sit down and enjoy a snack in the kitchen? What are the odds of the previous harm to JBR's head being an accident? How many people do you know that have injured anyone with a golf club, other than Michael Skakel?
I read the whole story. It's interesting that similar to what others have observed, you can find quite a few individual letter similarities, while at the same time the general style of the two writings looks different. According to this expert, that is what he found upon analyzing the yearbook writing and the ransom note, along with other samples.
I have been told by other people who are are certified document examiners that a minimum of a dozen known samples of a particular individual's handwriting are generally required to make a valid interpretation of the unknown.
This issue came to the forefront in the Vincent Foster case, when a Capitol Police handwriting examiner mistakenly ruled that the "suicide note" miraculously discovered in Foster's White House office nearly a week after his death was written by the decedent. It was pointed out then that the opinion was based on insufficient quantity of known samples. Two years after Foster's death, three highly respected forensic document examiners - without previous access to the "suicide note" - determined unequivocally that the supposed Foster "suicide note" was a third rate forgery!
Past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior. Burke done it, the RN was Patsy's cover. Or not.

Ooops, my bad. I thought they'd all but matched her handwriting, tablet etc to that note, but didn't have the 'smoking gun' match to make it even semi-offical. I'll have to go back and re-read that '96 case synopsis, when I get some time. Thanks for the clarification.

Make up your mind, Cobra -- are you following the voluminous coverage and breathless developments of the case like everybody else, or is it "disgusting" stuff that "[your] family will not watch?" You can't have it both ways.

We don't watch soap eperas. When I'm not running businesses, I play golf or go shooting.
I don't think he did either, but I'm not going to say he didn't do it until he is brought to trial and proved guilty or not.
I'm willing to bet my last nickel that he never goes on trial for her murder.Unless the prosecutor can shoot down the claim of his ex wife that he was in Alabama on the day of the murder or can provide DNA irrefutably tying him to the murder,it'll never happen.
