The man who confessed to killing JonBenet Ramsey had another bizarre secret up his sleeve in the months before his arrest - he was visiting a surgical centre that specialises in sex-change operations.
Staff at the Pratunam Clinic, Thailand's top transgender centre, told the New York Daily News yesterday that 41-year-old John Mark Karr was a patient of theirs - but wouldn't say how close he was to getting "sexual reassignment" surgery.
"Yes, he had treatment here," a representative said. "He was our patient. He came a number of times. But we cannot give out details on his treatment as we are ethically bound to keep these things private."
The disclosure came a day after The News reported that Karr sought cosmetic surgeons' help changing his face in Bangkok. In his nine months there, he made 12 phone calls from his hotel room - nine of them to plastic surgeons.
Two calls were to the Pratunam Clinic, which specialises in putting men under the knife to become "ladyboys" and also sponsors the annual World's Most Beautiful Transsexual competition. It charges $US1600 ($2105) for the surgery, which could cost $US25,000 ($A32,900) in the West.

OK - now I see. There was just one overall incident and it was an "either/or" - either sex offenses or controlled substances issues.

" ... The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing suspended Karr's credential on April 11, 2002, the minutes of the commission meeting show. He was suspended because of a complaint, information or an indictment that had been filed in court against him alleging that he committed a sex offense or an offense "involving aiding and abetting the unlawful sale, use or exchange to minors of controlled substances," according to the minutes. ..."
They made it sound like one happened in Napa and one in Santa Rosa.

Right, same incident, but note the date of his arrest (2001) and the action of the board (2003). Comforting, huh?
Still confusing --- your first post reads April 2003 --- the second, April 2002.
They are two different things. The first is from the conviction for the child porn, as I understand it. The 2nd is the final ousting, for continuous flagrant rules violations. And there was one before the 2002 one, also - in 2001.

You know, so they can suspend him but still say to the parents and others "innocent until proven guilty" and then "we have suspended him (with pay) until the outcome of our investigation" and then "we are still investigating" and then "we are deliberating the findings of the investigation" then "nothing to see here, folks, move along" and then "never darken our hallways again, you sob."
Then they can all laugh about how odd he is and think they've CYA'ed themselves.

Despite our present take on his "breasts", he may have been getting nervous and wanted his "facial appearance" changed.
They said he appeared paranoid while at the Cafe Internet Sites and he mentions "paranoid" in one of his emails.

One of the first things I posted after seeing his picture was aids or sex change......The Thais are known for the "removal of adams apple" a tell tall feature that's very difficult to get rid of...
We actually had a member of our community X football coach/athletic director, father of three sons who went to Thailand for the change. (His family had moved west before it all happened, but he kept in touch with people here and gave them all the details. It's a small town ya know how "news travels".) WHo a thunk 6'4" guy is now a gal.
