BANGKOK, Thailand - The American suspect in the killing of JonBenet Ramsey told investigators that he drugged and had sex with the 6-year-old beauty queen before accidentally killing her, a senior Thai police officer said Thursday.
An autopsy on Ramsey said a blood screening showed no drugs or alcohol in her body but said she had vaginal abrasions.
Lt. Gen. Suwat Tumrongsiskul, head of Thailand's immigration police, said by telephone that he was not present for the questioning, which was conducted by U.S. law enforcement officials.
But, according to what the general said he was told of the questioning, the suspect, John Mark Karr, "said he drugged the child." Suwat did not say who briefed him on the questioning.
Karr claimed he had sex with Ramsey, who was still alive, Suwat said. Karr said he then realized he had "accidentally" killed her, according to the general.
A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy said it had no information about Karr's alleged actions or what he said to questioners. U.S. and Colorado law enforcement officials were unavailable for comment.
Read the Denver Post or Rocky Mountain news coverage of this. Police held back details. This person apparently knew them.

The Ramseys, who later moved to Atlanta, Georgia, have fought for years to clear their names of persistent accusations of involvement in the death of their daughter.
The Ramsey family lawyer said Karr once lived near the family in Georgia before they moved to Colorado.
It is my understanding the Ramsey's moved (escaped) from Colorado after their daughter's death. Yet the second statement directly contradicts that.
Wonder if there was dna on the envelope.....like when he licked the stamp?
That is what's know as a "pencil neck" as in "pencil necked geek"
That is exactly what Dan Abrahams and others said on MSNBC. They felt the investigation was much farther along then the DA let on and he personally felt this man needed locked up.
too much asphyxiation sex?
He could have drugged her with something like GHB, which is undetectable in blood in as little as six hours.
I was looking for a plastic "bobblehead" on the internet that looks like this guy to no avail. It is a miracle his tiny little neck supports that enormous cranium.

He might look a bit like Richard Hickock, Perry Smith's murdering pal (In Cold Blood).
From what I understand, the Ramsey's lived in Georgia and had Jon Benet there. They moved to Colorado when JB was about about 2 years old. Then they moved back to Georgia after the murder.
I'm waiting for an explanation of how he happened to know the exact amount of the bonus that John Ramsey had just received or was about to receive. The claim that he was trying to kidnap her for ransom doesn't make much sense, what with all his blather about being in love with her, unless his plan was to get the money and keep her -- but if that was the plan, why didn't he get her out of the house fast?
I agree, there's a very real possibility that this guy didn't do it, and is just fantasizing that he did. His ex-wife climing he was with her in Alabama at the time lends support to that theory. What would her motivation be for protecting him and putting herself at serious legal risk? It doesn't sound like this guy has been sending home fat alimony or child support checks. As for how he could have come upon information about the crime that was never made public, given the places he hangs out, and the intense "research" he'd been conducting for years with various people who were interested in the case, I wouldn't be surprised if he got the info from the real killer (with or without realizing that his source was in fact the real killer).
He looks like a young version of the president on last season's 24.
Could it be that he looks like Gilbert Godfrey?
He looks more like Ed Greely from SNL.
