I have no idea. I believe a stun gun was found at the crime scene.

Thanks, I don't remember...at first I thought it was the parents. But later, after a number of children were taken right from their homes, I began to wonder if perhaps she was the first.

If the note was in Patsy's handwriting, she would have spent the last 10 years of her life in jail. The note is not nor ever was conclusive. I agree about the creep and jail. We have all seen children attacked in their own homes these last few years...in some cases the parents were murdered for their kids. Why is it so difficult to believe a creep (if not the creep the arrested) got into the house and waited until all were asleep, overpowered the child and murdered her. He would have had time while they were out to look around-finding the basement room and reading private mail which would explain the $118,000.00 mentioned in the ransom note. He may even have been stalking the family-using the computer possibly. It can and has happened before.

Finally, an actual answer. First of all...

In contrast, family members (including nonparental offenders) accounted for 21.4 percent of offenders who committed crimes against all juveniles and 53.5 percent of those who committed crimes against young children. (Parental family offenders alone are 12 percent and 36 percent, respectively.)

As I pointed out, you need to keep your kids away from family members including their parents and especially that "funny" uncle. Your strategy of avoiding non-family males will not keep your kids safe.

Your article says there's a 2:1 male:female offender ratio and maybe more because they can't account for the presumably larger number of female versus male babysitters. This is also the major flaw in this study because they don't know the rate of offense. This doesn't tell you much about the potential safety of any given male babysitter.

Since they don't have actual numbers let's make a couple of representative examples. Lets say that 10 out of 100,000 male babysitters are offenders and 2 out of 1,000,000 female babysitters are offenders. OMG, a male babysitter is five times more likely to be an offender!! Looks bad for the men. Except that this means that 99.99% of males are OK and 99.9999% of females are OK. You would be unjust in assuming that any given male was a significant risk. And I think you'd be harming the socialization of your children by denying them contact with men outside the family.

To pick an extreme counter example, suppose 10 out of 10 male babysitters are offenders and the same 2 out of 1,000,000 female babysitters are offenders. The apparent 5:1 ratio between male and female offenders is unchanged. But, 0% of the males are OK and 99.9999% of the females are OK. In this case, you'd be crazy to give you child to a male babysitter.

Your problem is that you are assuming the situation is more the later example rather than the former without any evidence of such. This is a standard statistical trick where someone will claim that "A" happens more than "B" when in fact both are extremely unlikely.

I was determined, having ended up on a fairly positive note, to relax and let things take their course. I had a heartening response to my private mail. Now close out, sez I.

Oh no,I sat up late and watched the Nancy Grace show. A charming young woman was subbing for fiery Nancy. They scored a great coup. Dr Wecht and side by side,Dr Henry Lee. (Forensic pathologists). As my posts mentioned previously, Dr Wecht hammered away at Karr's "story". He repeated an earlier interview on CTV (Canada). Then followed Pamela Paugh- sister of Patsy Ramsey. I still cannot grasp the import of Pam's statement. Herewith:

"Dr Cynical Wecht"..... "He is railroading this poor man".

That it comes to this- to prove the innocence of the Ramseys, this man has sympathy like that. (Shaking my head).

Yes, I've read her autopsy report many times over. The only mention is on page 1, indented and sparce on information.

Compare that to Terry Schiavo's autopsy report (picked her because her autopsy report is so easy to find) and look at the toxicology section. It names what was tested for, if it was found, when found the concentration in blood/urine/body fluids etc. The coroner was also clear in what evidence he sent out for further toxicology testing.

No real toxicology information in the JonBenet autopsy report, neither what was sent out or testing. It's holdback evidence, just as the FBI experts opinion on the possible use of a taser on JonBenet has never been made public, though expert opinion was given.

Some people honestly believe all the evidence and information in the Ramsey case has been released either through the police/da's office or leaks. There is no way all of it has.

"If the note was in Patsy's handwriting, she would have spent the last 10 years of her life in jail"

As I stated earlier, I do not know why the DA's office refused to allow the grand jury hear Mr. Foster's conclusion, that Patsy, without a shred of doubt, wrote that note.

And the reason I cannot believe that a creep entered the house and killed Jonbenet, etc., etc., is because of that note.

Are you getting all the reporting on DVD so you can replay it when there's a lull in the reporting 10 years from now?

Are you posting on every JonBenet thread to make sure everybody knows you couldn't care less?

its most likely from a sneeze, that is what Henry Lee says. it most likely came from someone in the prouduction process or the store where the underwear was sold - unrelated to the crime (we'll see). the skin cells under her fingernails, are another story.

The coverage is disgusting. It's amazing how some people get off in loving ghoul, blood, guts and semen dripping genitals. I sure as hell would n't let the death of my daughter be sensationalized like this story has been for 10 years. It's family business, not a media event to sell advertising time. Too bad there weren't hidden cameras of the event just so the sicko could get off on it.

If you think people are "getting off" on the coverage, you have issues yourself, pal. If you actually read some of the things posted in the threads, you will find people who are, in our own amateur detective way, trying to figure out what to believe. NOBODY here made a reference to "semen dripping genitals" before YOU just did, sicko.

I sure as hell would n't let the death of my daughter be sensationalized like this story has been for 10 years.

And exactly what do you think you could do to prevent it?

It's family business, not a media event to sell advertising time.

What kind of nonsense is that?! Rape and murder of a child is NOT "family business," it's public record, and the perpetrators are a hazard to the general public.

EVERYONE should be involved in eradicating such scum from society, and if the process of doing that made John and Patsy uncomfortable, that's too maddog bad. Showing some twisted idea of "respect" for the Ramseys' "privacy" or "dignity" endangers the lives of other potential victims. JonBenet is lost, but there are still millions of little American girls who might be victims. If Karr turns out to be the guy, he's been stalking the country and at least two continents for ten years in search of others.

I don't want political correctness in the search for terrorists OR pedophiles! If you do, perhaps you would be more comfortable on the ACLU website.

A lot of this crap was reported or shown on various hourly talk shows. It's disgusting. You can watch it. My family will not.

Why people live for watching this is beyond belief. It's just like the rubber-neckers looking for blood in an automobile accident.

No one has to be immersed in this 24/7 to know that murderes need to be eliminated.

The parents should have better taste than to be played in order to sensationalize the death of their daughter. We wouldn't. It's no one's business.

So if you like this form of entertainment, you watch it. My wife and children prefer not to.

Bullshit. If my wife or daughter were raped, I would not allow every reporter and TV camera on the planet surrounding our house. People have a right to something called prvacy.

Go join your Code Pink friends and get some more memory cards for your cameras to get more pictures.

Wake up and smell the First Amendment, brainiac! YOU HAVE NO CHOICE IN THE MATTER! You can't stop the media from having access to police files regarding a murder case without a court order. If she was killed in the family home as was JonBenet, you couldn't force news vans, helicopters and trailers out of your neighborhood or even prevent them from shooting pictures of your residence -- it's a crime scene! And if you would say "I have a right to prvacy (sic)" and don't act like you want everyone in the free world trying to find out who raped and killed your wife or daughter, it would make them more suspicious of you!

You haven't been paying attention. Do you remember poor Richard Jewell, a security guard, ducking in and out of his mother's basement after the FBI falsely accused him of being the Olympic bomber? John Bennett Ramsey is a millionaire. I am assuming you, like most people, are not -- do you think he invited the circus to town that made him an unindicted suspect? Do you think he would hesitate to stop the buzz about the details of his daughter's death if he had the ability to do so? What makes you think you would be able to succeed where he failed? Threatening to shoot reporters? All the more reason to paint you as a villain!

Conservatives can debate on whether there is a "right to privacy" at all in the Bill of Rights, but suggesting the rape and murder of a child is "family business" and shouldn't be subject to public scrutiny is beyond the pale.

If you like a circus atmosphere, grab cotton candy and a bag of peanuts to feed the elephants.

A police investigation is different from media coverage. Those people are NOT allowed on my property. They would be trespassing. Where do you live? In crime ridden Los Angeles or New Orleans where murder is the norm? Maybe you can join Cindy Sheehan or Cynthia McKinney if you like the idea of being surrounded by media vultures.

That's not my lifestyle. This is

I think Lee's call that it was likely from production or from someone in a store is a bad call BECAUSE it is prejudicial AGAINST the Ramseys, i.e., he's excluding the possibility of the perp? I'm wondering if it's from a teardrop. It could leave the same "splash" as a sneeze.

I consider Lee a well-paid (over-paid) splash expert with plenty of prejudice tacked on.
