It will still be JB, Terry, Howie and Jimmy on NFL on FOX Sunday this fall. But plenty will change as the network's pregame show will sport a whole new look.
Joe Buck, a six-time Emmy Award winner, has been named as new host for the FOX NFL Sunday pregame show and postgame show The OT on doubleheader weekends.
It marks the first time in sports television history that a broadcaster will host an NFL pregame show while simultaneously handling play-by-play duties.
The announcement was made Monday by David Hill, chairman of the FOX Sports television group and executive producer for FOX Sports.
Buck joins Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Jimmy Johnson, Pam Oliver, insider Jay Glazer and comedian Frank Caliendo this season, beginning with the 2006 premiere on Sunday, September 10 at noon ET.

I think it is time for Al Michaels and John Madden to hang it up. I cannot listen to either of them anymore.

Also I'm glad to see Curt Menefee get a nice promotion, he was good when he was here in Dallas.

JB got lured away by CBS, which might possibly make their pre-game show worth watching, though probably not.

Yeah, Menefee is very smooth and seems like a nice guy. He's perfect for this new role. Sure has come a long way from the little Ticket and channel 4, IIRC.

So is it Fox thinks he's so great at both jobs they wanted him to both OR is it because they couldn't find anyone they liked to do either job?
To: Dysart
Oh no, not this dork. I'm so sick of him broadcasting the playoffs and World Series. Thom Brenneman is a 100 times better broadcaster than Buck, yet we get stuck with him every OCT, opining about the "great Yankees" and the "mystique" of Yankee stadium.

Between the Sunday papers I take which cover Southeastern Conference and ACC College football in "depth" and all other college footbal better than the local rags in the other regions and NFL Sunday Ticket on DirecTV, I have not watched a pre-game, half-time, sideline report or commercial in five years.
The shows have obviously passed me by as I can not figure out what in the world is so damned funny that everybody on the set of every studio show is always yukking it up like 8th grade boys that are all sitting on whoopee cushions.

...they couldn't find anyone they liked to do either job? That's my supposition. He's the best guy they could install; despite the fact that apparently many people here aren't wild him, he's generally well-respected. I don't have strong feelings either way about him. I do think Menefee is very good, and maybe they will move him in there full time, eventually.

I have become the fastest mute-button-pusher-in-the-south. No commercial noise, sideline reporterettes' babbling, or feature stories ever make it to my ears.

I'm just surprised they couldn't find one adequate person to take one of those two jobs.
