A new survey says U.S. co-workers' annoying habits are the number one source of stress in the workplace.
The top complaint was talking too loudly on the phone, followed by constant whining about work, the Boston Globe reported.
Nearly 60 percent of respondents to an online survey by job-search Web site www.truejobs.com said their co-workers' annoying habits negatively affected their work relationships, and 40 percent said it led them to seek a different job.
When a co-worker gets on your last nerve, it can create a physiological reaction, such as rising blood pressure, that increases stress and decreases concentration, psychologist Philip Quinn told the newspaper.
Despite the irritation, 54 percent of the respondents said they have not considered confronting their bothersome co-workers, the survey said.

Oh boy. It's too bad my husband isn't here, because he knows all to well about that. He works with one of his sister's in-laws and she is a complete FMLA abuser. She is usually out of vacation days (3 weeks worth) by either late February/early March. That's when the family doctor (also a good friend of her parents) writes her notes for "back pain", "wrist pain" or any other phantom illness causing her to take off for 4-6 weeks at a stretch.
Finally the company got fed up with it and I believe (I could be wrong) that for any sick day/time-off she needs documentation for all her mystery ailments. We are all expecting her to have a baby just for the time off.

Its almost impossible to fire someone with an FMLA. We have 6 people using theirs regularly and our dept refuses to hire extra people to cover them. So you either get mandated for OT or you do the same work load with fewer people. Its causing alot of stress, excuse me.

I'll trade you for the guy who sits behind me who is either hocking up phlegm and slurping it back in or bitching non-stop about everything anyone asks him to do.

Working at home definately has its advantages. Although the dogs have a couple of annoying habits too. Especially the male.

LMAO!!
It's just a regular job that happens to be packed with weirdos. :-D
There's another guy who just makes up whatever kind of story suits his fancy. He's told some real whoppers and when pressed on the details, he changes the subject. Oh, he also pronounces his name with a French twist and added an apostrophe in the middle for no reason. Example, if his name was James he would spell it Ja'mes and pronounce it Zhaaahmes.
There's a lady on the second floor who not only talks to herself LOUDLY, but argues with herself even louder.
Oh and Stink Mouth. Lord have mercy. I think this woman has a phobia of all things dental. Her breath actually LINGERS. It's like it's own entity. I'm surprised it doesn't have it's own cube. Never in my nearly 31 years I have I ever smelled anything like this.
Then the guy who blames EVERYTHING on President Bush, I mean literally every thing. Gas prices? Bush. Line at the post office? Bush. Lost his coupon for 5 cents off kitty litter? Bush. White Sox out of first place? Bush.

I can't believe I left this one out.
We had a lady who went crazy. She covered her whole cube in holy cards and weird voodooy sort of stuff. When she put the chicken foot in the jar on top of her computer they asked her to take some time off...forever.
Another coworker knew one of this ladies kids and heard that the crazy lady would only go to spanish language mass-- even though she didn't speak spanish. The funniest part was that the kids weren't upset because she would only go to spanish mass, they were upset because she wasn't catholic! LMAO!
