If that happened, a directed verdict would be warranted.

I wondered if in the event that two were acquited and one convicted if an immediate setting aside of the 3rd verdict would be warranted. You think any Durham judge would do that?

I think once one ID is proven wrong, the reasonable doubt is overwhelming for the other two accused. No way a conviction for any of them if all it is based on is the "victim's" ID.

No. I think the chance of getting a huge payoff for the governor of NC to give everybody a pardon is too great for them to let go of it. (JMHO, of course).

There was speculation about that--but it's apparently dropped from sight.
(Maybe they were at a hotel with someone known to Durham's finest?)
In this case, I believe it. (And yes, it DOES belong on Jerry Springer. . .)

I also think it's possible that Nifong thought at least one of the players would have had sex with one of the "dancers" (whom he might for some inexplicable reason have thought to be also prostitutes). That would make his case a slam-dunk,
with kudos to him and a giant payoff at the end from the super-rich families of those kids. He'd hit the jackpot.

But, when it turned out they didn't have sex with Precious,
he was caught in a jam, and has since been winging it. (JMHO)

This case makes Springer look G-rated. But, yes you are correct that the jury is an issue, if it is tried in Durham.

According to the written statements, the AV left daddy's house and went to Brian's to shower and try on outfits for him while he played with his joystick ( video games, get your mind out of the gutter )... They left his house at 10:45, got lost and didn't get to 610 til 11:50 ish...

Don't know about Kim's pre-party affairs...um...er.. actions, yet...

Who Nifong will present as:

1. a hard working unbiased health care worker who believes Mangum was raped.

2. a hard working young mother doing what she has to do to make restitution and who in all the taunting and acrimony that night did not notice that Mangum disappeared for a while, but did later remember and "heard" what probably was the rape going on.

3. a nobody. Jakki will not be called.

4. an upset relative, except of course Dad won't be called either.

5. as a bum who did not stay and protect Mangum, if he is called at all.

6. a nobody. The "boyfriend" will not be called.

7. a dispassonate scientist who found a partial DNA match.

8. the type of cop that poor Mangum had to deal with to get her case even heard. This may elicit sympathy for Mangum.

9. as the earnest young good guy cop who tied up this case.

10. as concerned police officers who misheard Mangums story in the fog of the events of the night.

11. as the concerned neighbor and good guy white Durmite compared to the evil yankee defendents who did not call 911 because he say the women did manage to get out of there.

If this mess gets to trial, Nifong is going to try to win as he should. He is going to present the best case he can and keep the roughness of the Mangum crowd from the jury as much as he can.

That is why since Nifong and everyone who has followed this case knows these guys are not guilty, this should not be allowed to go to trial.

No one is more afraid of a conviction than I. However, if this case has TV cameras or if the trancripts are made public, since there is No evidence of any crime , the public outcry wil be louder than OJ. In this case defendants can appeal...
