Time for a new FreeRepublic folding@home thread.
Our FreeRepublic team of 351 members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).
Currently, the team is in 85th place (with 908 active CPUs - 47,400 completed Work Units and nearly 8.5 million points).
This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 19 folding threads)
Looks like the AMD-ATI rumor was true.. Stupid if you ask me..

Actually, now that I think about it, a problem people have always had with AMD based computers is their lack of a total integrated solution that is stable. If AMD could produce their own stable, high performance chipsets with integrated graphics then that would be good. For office clients, an Intel CPU, chipset, motherboard and integrated graphics is the standard.
I do wonder how this will effect nvidia on AMD systems.
The thread has died apparently. No posts for over a day. hmm
We're just pacing ourselves.
Too busy crunching to post :)
AMD price drops are going slow... I want to buy this week hurry up!
Researchers believe they have found a second code in DNA in addition to the genetic code.Scientists Say Theyve Found a Code Beyond Genetics in DNAThe genetic code specifies all the proteins that a cell makes. The second code, superimposed on the first, sets the placement of the nucleosomes, miniature protein spools around which the DNA is looped. The spools both protect and control access to the DNA itself...
crunching...post.... Mmmm... Cereal.
We're still here. Just lurking.....
Just getting my systems back on-line after the power outage in St. Louis. Had only a few back in KC still grinding away. I'll post more as soon as I finally pass LTCJ.
Better be worried about your production. I'm on your 6 buddy! :-)~
If you get close I'm going to take up chewing tobacco.

That's only so you can spit at me :)
My laptop was unable to recieve a new WU for a week before I noticed. It is now crunching a p2124. I have a few new systems that will be delivered this week or next.
Dagnabbit! Well, Ill be right back here if you need me...lol
Very interesting! Thanks for the link.
On a totally non related matter I had my DNA done and found a lost (Unknown to me)relative thru the procees. http://www.familytreedna.com
Way kewl if you are tracing your family genealogy way, way, way back....
[FANFARE]
Woo-Hoo!
I'm in the Top 200 on our team!
(Hey, sometimes ya gotta too your own horn; nobody else will.)
TECHNICAL NOTE:
My CPU was shutting down for what I thought were heat-related reasons until it did it at about 3:00am. I throttled back the CPU demand on the FAH service to 95%, and raised the process priority to "low". I haven't had any shutdowns since, and we've just come through five days of 105F+ weather.
Now, my experiment, going forward, is to bump the CPU demand percentage up one point at a time until I see another failure, then I can back it off one percent and be relatively sure I'm folding at optimum speed.
Hey - where's your manners?
You're supposed to honk or ar least wave when passing.
;^D
Glad to see you got your power back on. What's the situation like there in St. Louis?
Hope you had a way to stay cool.
