White PSP - Live photos, New details (Sony Keeps Shooting Themselves in the Foot)
PSP World ^

Following last week's unveiling of a white PSP in Tokyo, we've collected new details and three new photos of the device.

Here's what we know so far:

The "ceramic white" PSP will be released in Japan on Thursday, September 15, 2005 for 26,040 yen (about $235) in a Value Pack identical to today's save for a white pouch. There's currently no plans to bring it to the U.S. or Europe.

In addition to its white body, the device features a white control stick, white speaker grills, but will not have clear D-Pad and face buttons — it instead has opaque white buttons. The shoulder buttons are still clear like the black PSP, however.

Check out three photos of the white PSP from the Sony event after the jump.

So Sony is in a bit of a bind now in the console war.

At E3, they announced their PS3 unit would cost $499...and that's just for the core unit. To buy the premium unit, you'll need to cough up $599. Over six hundred dollars. You could get an Xbox 360 and a Nintendo Wii (which will definitely come at a price less than or equal to $250) for that cash. Or just one of the less expensive systems and lots of games.

The PS3 titles will cost above $59.99, but no less than $99.99. Yeah.

Also, the PSP, despite its technological prowess, is losing against the Nintendo DS in terms of sales. Big surprise. Once again, Nintendo is dominating in the handheld market.

So what can Sony do to tick off more people?

Well...

An advertisement from Amsterdam.

You just KNOW that if an NAACP member finds this, he'll go 'ZOMGTEHRACISM!!!111one!oneone!111!'.

Oops. Missed the date.

I mostly posted this just to show the Amsterdam ad.

That ad would probably be popular in Japan, but not Holland. For some reason, I can just hear the girl speaking in a Foghorn Leghorn dialect... ;)

Damn. It's hard to imagine a more tasteless, offensive ad campaign.

I dunno. Amsterdam was the only place I've ever been called the N-word, to my face, by a stranger I wasn't even talking to, but who took the time and effort to come in my face and say it.

Make a movie like "DaVinci Code"? Oh yeah, they already did that.
