The ***OFFICIAL*** Weekend Singles' Thread -- (June 23rd to 25th)
Jun 30, 2006 | Proud_Yank & DollyCali

Its time to celebrate our great nation's independence yet again. Hopefully we will all take a few moments to reflect on how far we have come since our country was founded, the freedoms we hold so dear, and how thankful we are to live in the land of the free.

What are some memorable 4th of July vacations or events that you have enjoyed?

Where are you planning on travelling, and what are you planning on doing for the 4th of July this year?

What did you do today? Hubby worked on his bike. I read a book and smoked a couple stogies out back. Soaked up some rays too.

I worked like a dog for seven hours.

Then came home and swam for an hour.

Dad's home now.

Anyone have to work tomorrow??(other than me, of course, it was optional, and I took the option.)

I work tomorrow too although in my case, it is manditory. Still I thank God that I do have a decent job and I'm working, although Mom does work, I'm the main breadwinner. Anyhoo, I'm looking forward to next weekend, well, at least to the Wings Over Pittsburgh Airshow on July 8th and 9th. I turn 40 July 8th too. B-P Well, I won't let middle age get me down, I'll do some freelance splunking in the B-52 they will have on display. B-)

BTW, I also co-host with Snugs next week as well. BTW, look for my Freepmail, Snugs, we need to work on a theme, I'd like to feature some airshow pics if it is OK. I didn't go last year, but since I am a stone's throw away from the airport, I did get good pics of the Thunderbirds over my house.

Well, I took Boo and Pansy to the vets today for their checkups, Boo because he was deathly sick a couple of moths ago and Pansy for her thyroid and allergies. I have gotten a good report overall. Boo gained 9 ounces to weigh in at 10 lbs 6 oz and Pansy gained 1 ounce to weigh in at 5 lbs 9 oz. Well, she was at the vets a week and a half ago so 1 ounce is about what you would expect. Boo is 16 and Pansy will be 19 next month. The vets are perplexed on why Boo got sick, at first, they though it was liver problems or failure but they seem to rule it was an infection of unknown origin. Anyways, I'm thankful we pulled him through and with flying colors, it was so short after we lost Greystone. Maybe it was some sort of reaction on him losing Greystone, we are not sure, but I do remember he almost died in 1995 of much the same cause (although it was an infected tooth) after we lost Cricket.

So the kitties are doing quite well, but I'm sure it will be like "52 pickup" here soon between the fireworks and the jet fighters coming here. I was sleeping this afternoon and already a jet fighter flew low over my house and woke me up.

Cool! I'm glad we have another July 8th birthday here. I'm just chilling right now looking for frequencies to put into my scanner for the airshow. I get military frequencies so listening in is quite a treat.

Glad to hear the kitties are doing much better. Hope the jets don't scare them under the bed!

I know. I think the two that really don't care are Pansy and Boo, they are not scared by the jets, as for the others, they hide. Boo is one of those cats who is a bit like Lt. Dan in "Forrest Gump" (Lt.s Dan dared God to kill him on Forrest's boat in a hurricane) to where when a bad storm comes by, he meows defiantly up at the clouds. Even when he had tornadoes here in 1998, he did the same thing. I now tell Boo, "I don't think that's wise" knowing he could have died in 1995 and this year. B-P
