Its time to celebrate our great nation's independence yet again. Hopefully we will all take a few moments to reflect on how far we have come since our country was founded, the freedoms we hold so dear, and how thankful we are to live in the land of the free.
What are some memorable 4th of July vacations or events that you have enjoyed?
Where are you planning on travelling, and what are you planning on doing for the 4th of July this year?

it is raining here. My lawn mower repair friend has left. I have a craftsman riding mower for sale, he gave it a tune up & replaced the one blade on the deck. I just cut the lawn before the skies opened up. Dont want to sell anything that I haven't made sure is running okay.. or at least be able to say it is working or not.

You must remmeber, those 2 things I have acquired are VERY rare, otherwise, they would NOT be worth much. I cannot stress how much of an anomally it was for me to find them.
I do not expect to find any more like them...but then, I never expected to find them either. They were both gifts from the Lord, and I give him total credit for them. The Mac does work(I did check it), and the Marantz appears to work, but needs a couple of tubes. (It will get them before I sell it). In vintage audio, as long as an item is complete and intact and in good condition, it is common to sell them as "original", possibly needing some "restoration", by the buyer. This is fine as long as someone does NOT mis-represent an item as "completely redone", when it has not been. Needless to say, "restored" items command the highest prices, but "as found" ones still go for much $ if they are sought after.
Unfortunately, there are those individuals that attempt to sell items as working, tested and/or restroed, when they in fact, have not been , are non-functional, or even worse, they ues someone else's pictures to sell their item, to make it appear better than it is. This is FLAT-OUT dishonesty, and just breeds distrust and ill will among people. In short--it is NOT smart to try and "go for the quick buck", by falsely stating things, and end up hurting ones self in the "long run".
As for Lawn mowers. a few years ago, we had 2,(one self-propelled and one rider) needing some repairs(and someone with some knowledge could no doubt have made them nice again) , and I just sat them out for the trash, a few days early, expecting them not to be there long. Some guy came and got both of them!!

I wasn't responding to your posts, just sort of entering the thread for the night by saying something silly. I do it a lot.

Speaking of memorable Independence days for me--I reckon the best one in recent memory would be 1994. That was the time I wen to on a nice, multi-hour boat ride, with Paul's friend. It was about the BEST 4th I have ever had!!
My favorite Independence Day was in 1976 with the BiCentenntial, we watched the tall ships come into New York Harbor on TV, President Ford proclaimed the ringing of bells at 2 PM EDT, and the fireworks when we went over to my aunt's house, after a swim of course. 1976 was a bittersweet year overall, my parents got divorced that year, it affected me so much, I went into an academic tailspin but I pulled out of it. The BiCentennial was special to me since it took a lot of the sting out of that pain and it kept my mind off of it, even for a little while.

Not yet. I'm not sure if I want to see it. Tell me what you think if you do. I heard some ramblings that the producers took out the word "America" in the phrase, "Truth, justice, and the American Way" in the movie. They changed it to "Truth, Justice, and all that."
When the producers were asked about the change, they said they wanted SM to be "global" and not American.
Yeah, I heard that over Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity. Someone over there at the studio needs a serious butt-whoopin'. I admit Supes never was #1 with me, I'm more of a Marvel type although on the DC side, Batman and Green Arrow were my faves, but to do that to Supes, it just tarnishes the mythos behind him.
