Early humans living in Africa's open savannahs probably made easy pickings for large predatory cats, but a new study suggests that at least one of the meals didn't sit well.

A large cat dining on the entrails of one our early ancestors thousands of years ago contracted an ulcer-causing bacteria that spread to lions, cheetahs and tigers and which persists to this day, a new study concludes.

LOL. And they'll completely ignore the fact that the ulcer victim whose entrails were eaten didn't fare too well thanks to animals.

My daughter, my heartburn, has loved tigers since Tigger times! She recently visited a rare animals preserve in Bridgeport Texas where the big cats and other exotics are housed after having been kept as "pets".

There was the time that my wife and daughter went home to Minot North Dakota to visit Grandma. They visited the Minot Zoo which has a Siberian Snow Tiger. My wife went close to the chain link fence to get a picture and the Tiger "marked her!" Needless to say, I wish I had a picture of that!!

Yea, those tiger cubs are cute now. Give them another six months, and "playtime" will turn to "lunchtime."

That depends on the individual cat. I've met a panther who was as nice as any housecat.

Of course, when she wanted to sit on you, it wasn't quite as comfortable as when a housecat had the same impulse.

Okay, this brought up a question here that no one could answer: Would a house trained "big cat" have terratorial protective instincts similar to big dogs? In other words, would a big cat act as a "watchcat" and attack an unwelcome intruder?

My son spectulated yes, but my thinking is the cat would hide for a while.

It depends on the species and the individual cat. For the panther in question, the answer was a most emphatic "yes!"

A burglar broke into my friend's home one day while he was at work. He got a call from the local PD asking him to come home and get his cat off the top of the guy so they could haul him off to jail. (The silent alarm had gone off and summoned police.)
