The Hobbit Hole XXX - Then world behind and home ahead...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 06/28/2006 10:14:11 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Then world behind and home ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Nice pictures of the ride. Those woods look like there would be elves in them. Perfectly beautiful.

Some size 10s fit me, some don't. I'm workin' on that. ;-)

Sure, I could use them!

Looking forward to pictures of your day...

Rosie - excellent photo composition, well done. OB & LSA

I can't really take any credit for that...Hair on several occasions mentioned that nice photo opportunities were coming up. ;-)

And really, you can't go too far wrong anywhere along the later trails we took - really some pretty wooded areas.

Sorry about your SIL, Suzi. Prayers for Sir Kit's family.

Yep, every family seems to have some folk that are at cross purposes and damn everyone else. Mine surely does. I'm kind of philosophical about it at this point, but they can cause lost sleep, and worse.

Are you guys back in Mississippi yet?

Thanks, guys. She was pretty young; only 59, but I believe she'd had some trouble with high blood pressure and her heart in recent years. We still haven't heard anything about arrangements. I guess we'll hear tomorrow.

Thanks, Sam. No, we're not in MS yet. Packing and getting the house ready to sell is going slower than we though it might. We moved our leaving time to later in September, and we were going to start working on some of the things we wanted to do to the house to get it ready to show.

Condolences, to you and SirKit, Suzi - family is family, even if they've not been as close as they could have been. And it's hard to have that feeling hanging over things, I'm sure.

Yeah, SirKit and his older brother had just talked last week about trying to re-establish a relationship with her. That's what SirKit regrets most. It hadn't been for lack of trying on their part in the past; she'd just pushed everyone away with her behavior. It was really sad, but there wasn't anything anyone could really do about it.

We stayed up late, so we're getting a late start this morning. Went to make a second pot of coffee and forgot I'd used the last of the regular beans last night. Had to make a pot with 2 scoops of Death by Chocolate regular coffee with 4 scoops of Decaf Green Mountain. I didn't want to use any more of the regular cause I didn't want it to taste TOO chocolatey! Fixing to make some pancakes w/strawberries and some bacon.

Mmm Pork fat RULES!
