I liked Atlas Shrugged-- it should be read, for sure, but I didn't love it. I felt like it was preaching to the converted (me) and it didn't have hugh artistic merit.

Great message, not a great read.

Demille is my favorite author. I've read every one of his books. I laughed out loud through each of them. He's got another "John Corey" book coming out in November:

Welcome to the Custer Hill Club—a men’s club set in a luxurious Adirondack hunting lodge whose members include some of America’s most powerful business leaders, military men, and government officials. Ostensibly, the club is a place to relax with old friends. But one fall weekend, the club’s Executive Board gathers to talk about the tragedy of 9/11—and finalize a retaliation plan, known only by its codename:Wild Fire. That same weekend, a member of the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force is found dead. Soon it’s up to Detective John Corey and his wife, FBI Agent Kate Mayfield to unravel a terrifying plot that starts with the Custer Hill Club and ends with American cities locked in the crosshairs of a nuclear device. Corey and Mayfield are the only ones who can stop the button from being pushed, and global chaos from being unleashed...

You have to take it in the context of when it was written, '50s. People were not so informed as they are now. Yes, you and I see it as preaching to the choir, but it wasn't when it was written..............

I always though that Curious George was a mule used to smuggle black tar herion for the Man with the Yellow Hat.

"That's it, swallow the balls George, good monkey."

Took the words out of my mouth (though I'm not as big a fan of "Gold Coast" as most people). But don't forget the prequel to "The Lions Game", "PLum Island" and the sequel, "Night Fall".

Capt:

Good call on Plum Island. Wasn't as good as Lion's Game imo, but still great nonetheless.

And how dare you blasphemy "The Gold Coast!" :-)

I must have some type of disorder. I am the ONLY one I know who read it who didn't love it. I found it rather sad, unlike the John Corey books, which, aside from being good detective stories are laugh-out-loud funny! Though I don't like his politics (which seem to come through in his books), the Stone Barrington novels by Stuart Woods are also good, with almost as much wit as DeMille.

Thanks...let me know what you think. I believe you will enjoy it and make no bones about embedding moral and constitutional messages in what I hope you will find to be a riveting and enthralling story line.

As to carriers, I believe we should maintain 14 aircraft carrier groups. That would mean building two more than we have now. The first of class CVN-21, CVN-78, is currently under construction and the last Nimitz, CVN-77, will soon be undergoing trials.

"Wild at Heart" by John Elderedge.

If you're a scifi freak like me, most works by David Weber (Honor Harrington series, Path of the Fury, Mutineer's Moon, In Death Ground, The Shiva Option). If you like Christian authors nothing beats Frank E. Peretti IMO.

Maybe one of these days I'll finish the book I'm working on then I can shamelessly reccomend my own work.
