Ann Coulter's Psychological Profile?

OK gang. Time to put the old iconoclastic part of the old thinker to work.
Yeah, I have enjoyed Ann's acidic barbs and laughed out loud at some of her more outrageous pronouncements over the years - though frankly, her act is getting a bit old with me - but that is not what this vanity is about.
I suspect that we are all secretly aware that her public persona displays more than a little evidence of exhibitionism and narcissism....the woman clearly has some personality issues. I personally think that she likely has a low sense of self-worth, which her public persona would appear to compensate for....
I would like to hear opinions on this topic from any FReepers who are psychologists or psychiatrists.
Oh, and in case some of you didn't get it, I'll repeat myself:
THIS VANITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MS. COULTER'S POLITICAL VIEWS. It is meant to provoke some thought about her method of promoting them (and herself).
I suspect that few Freepers would want their daughters to behave as Ms. Coulter does - both in terms of her outrageous rudeness and her never-married lifestyle.

Rest assured, Tom, your home page tells us all we need to know about the chaos in your head.
You don't know anything about me that I don't want you to know.
But do go on patting yourself on the back if it makes you feel good...

Hi Al, I can't disagree with you more.
First you are trying to make up some psychological profile based on her public life as an entertainer which can't be more than thin at best.
She is Will Rogers, Harriet Beecher Stove, Rush Limbaugh, PT Barnum, Martha Washington, the Beatles.
She can mesmerize you with what she says and can make you take notice and think.
We can only assume from her productivity, quality of work and the nice person she has been with visits with Freepers that this is one well adjusted super star of politics.
I had no problem for instance with her abrasive treatment of the Jersey girls, because from my view the Jersey girls have been enabling the enemy. They have been making al Jazzera sound bites and trying to get the most anti-American Democrats elected.
The Jersey girls IMO did quite a bit to make our soldiers die more often, to inspire the enemy to action and to break the American will.
So when ANN FLAMES ON these horrible people, I think she has had good cause and I have no problem with how she handles herself at all.
She appears to be a well adjusted woman who probably any human being would be grateful to have as a friend.
I think she is one of the more sound minded stable people you will ever find in the entertainment industry.
SHE'S GOOD PEOPLE it appears.
I don't agree with your view at all Al.

Would you want your daughter acting the way she does? Yes or no?I'm too worried about having a son who thinks like you to worry about my daughter.

Any time people like Murtha and the Jersey girls participate in politics by slamming the war effort and repeating America can't win, they inspire who? TERRORISTS!
When they get quoted on al Jazerra creating recruitment for insurgency, who benefits? TERRORISTS!
I have been blaming these types of people for years in causing the death of Americans overseas, I did not need Ann to make this statement first. I've been posting it for years. Ann only restated what many of us have been saying for years here on FR. I think what she said was just fine.
When some Democrat became a traitor and exposed photos from Abu Ghraib getting people beheaded and also growing recruitment against American soldiers in the Middle East, that is also the same darn thing as the Jersey girls.
The bad soldiers were already arrested awaiting trial when some Democrat idiot decided it was time to make all American troops look bad. The only benefit was creating momentum for terrorist (just as the Jersey girls did) and growing body bags.
What possible case can you make for the Jersey girls not growing the American dead in Iraq?
I think they are absolutely responsible in part by their actions and statements.
Regarding Myers, she was a poor choice (though a fine person) and Ann was one of the bold ones in front leading the charge for the President to make a good judicial choice, like illegal alien amnesty, that move with Myers does get his faithful base shaking their heads in disbelief. I was not happy with Myers, but I did not think it was the end of the world.
Ann does a good job. She is an entertainer and makes people pay attention by the way she says things.
That makes conversations on the topics she brought up which make people more often than not question liberalism and that is good.

Hi! Always a pleasure.
When those of use who disagree with Ms. Coulter's tactics are lashed back at with "DU trolls!", it does make one a bit nervous.
True enough - what moderator did that?
Unfortunately there will always be conservatives who have invested every bit as much thought and reason into their positions as the average DUer. I understand the disagreement some have with her tactics; her rhetoric is harsh. And so we debate it. There is nothing new under the sun.

I'm sure that Ann's comfortable in her skin and in her mind. She's way ahead of most young ladies her age in her confidence. She's blessed with a quick and logical mind, and she appropriately recognizes this.
WHOOPIE for appropriate confidence!

Hi Al. We may be from the same planet.
Can you refer me to the thread where the Mods did what you have said? I have been in a number of them and have not seen what you describe, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Generally, I agree w/ what AC has said. I think those who disagree with her level of rhetoric have legitimite issues. Most of them, bottom line, end up as matters of opinion and that always ends up in sharp debate on a hot issue. Doesn't mean folks should be mean (been there done that). Were posts pulled? Was that why? Thanks.

Interesting topic......I don't care to speculate, but I often have to wonder what the heck she is thinking. She does seem to thrive on the attention. I suppose negative attention is as good as any.
To: papertyger
"Nonsense. Coulter is a cultural/political strategist, and a damn fine one at that." I beg to differ. She may be a social commentator, but she is no political strategist. Coulter very famously doesn't care about the political impact of her words.
Politically speaking, her comments are very bad "strategerie" -- assuming, of course, the "strategerie" is to win votes to your side.

"Psycho-analysis" is another variant of an ad hominem attack. One can say that the speaker is 1) evil, 2) hated-filled and mean, 3) greedy (saying things for money). 4) hypocritical, and now also 5) "deranged or delusional" according to this or that expert, but it all amounts to an attempt to not answer the point and focus negative attention instead on the speaker of that point, (which might be fine by way of explanation if the speaker's points have already been refuted yet they repeat them as a mantra anyway, e.g., Cindy Sheehan or the Joisey Gals). But consider, in what way is a good point or argument hindered by conceding any of those possible motives? It just speaks more to the emptiness of the retort that such dismissals are even considered necessary.

What is this obsession with a 'woman' having the intellect to say what is without coating it to win friends and influence people?
I suppose it all depends on the meaning of the word "is".;-) Besides, politics is all about having to win friends and influence people. Ann is great at warming up the choir, but she is not exactly the best evangelist.

"Why don't we leave Ann Coulter be and concentrate our energies and posting space against the real enemy, the left, as Ann has done?" Oh, so we are imagining it when she makes cracks about President Bush?
To: sinkspur
I did refer to Bush, Myers, illegal amnesty and how it has out heads shaking.
I think the way Ann stated it was like WTF are you thinking Mr. President, are you back on the booze?
She was not alone in the outrage, confusion and disappointment at that time regarding the President's choices. Most conservatives were upset, Ann (who writes a column) just made a bold statement that got attention, and therefore again it got discussed, right?
I don't think highly at all of the Jersey girls though.
