Meeting the Parents:
Now, for some fun questions to kick off tonights thread!
1. Have you been on a date with someone you met on the Internet?
2. Did the date go well? Did a relationship result?
3. Did you meet them on a dating site or elsewhere? Was it totally by accident or chance?
4. Do you have a funny, gross, scary, or otherwise entertaining internet dating story to share? Either one that happened to you, or someone you know.
5. Any funny or interesting meeting the parents stories?
6. Has meeting the parents ever caused a breakup?
7. And, finally, have you ever set up a backup scenario to get out of a potentially bad date?

your friend sounds very lonely, gullible & not too bright worldly wise...I guess it will be the school of hard knocks for him along the way. It must break your heart to be able to see this happening & look at it objectively.
The rose colored glasses of lust/love/neediness really throw things off
Anything you say will be construed as jealousy possibly.
Perhaps their salvation would be too really work on finding a home business they can do together. My niece earns about 1000/mo selling things on e-bay. she buys at thrift places, garage sales etc. She has 5 kids is only 34 & loves being home. Her hubby has job/benefits but it doesn't go far with that large a family (and they all have mega medical problems)

When I lived near Cleveland, summer there was either 50s-60s, or 90+ degree scorching heat, never any middle ground, which is why the city sucks(and one of several reasons why I left it.)
There are times it can be like that here in Pittsburgh or at least it seems like we have a short spring where we jump from temps in the 40s-50s to 80s-90s on a short span. Maybe because I'm older, time passes quicker but it seems like we don't have much of a spring.

Woweee!! What an awful boss. I hope he gets his comeuppance.
I think he did, last I heard, he had to sell everything, I think he ended up in so much debt, that's what he had to do and move to New York to take a job.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, and I agree that his situation doesn't sound good. I can certainly understand how something like that could happen. I'm about his age, and if I had a chance with a woman who was 25, I'd be strongly tempted to overlook some things. I can't see myself overlooking as much as he has, but I can understand being greatly enticed by someone young and attractive.
I think to add to the mix, his mom wants him married before she passes on, she is on dialysis so there are times he could be nudged. I can understand that but to rush like that can be dangerous.
As you said, he has free will to live his life as he pleases. I guess the good thing about his money problems is that he may not have much for her to steal. I've worked hard and built enough savings that I guard it carefully. As a result, I'm less inclined to associate with women who seem untrustworthy in any way. I hate being single, but I'm not willing to spend myself on someone who is not worth the efforts I've made in life.
True, I guess the old adage, "you can't get blood from a stone" works both ways whether you're in debt to creditors or for someone to steal from you. B-P Still whether you have a little or a lot, you got to protect what you have. Maybe it will work out, I hope so, but it seems the track record in these things are not in his favor, or anyone's favor.
Thanks for an interesting lead-in post.
Well, sometimes I don't have much to say on some of the subjects of the week but I had a good one this time around. B-)

I feel sorry for your friend.
It sounds as if he is very lonely, and is NOT using his head on this. He is allowing himself to be USED, IMHO, and will probably pay a heavy price for doing so.
After all of the "fun" I have had over the years, I would rather be alone than fall for something like that!!!
Well, he already has gotten into huge scrapes. One girlfriend had 3 kids and she gotten so P.O.ed at him for whatever reason, she called the cops on him and claimed he was abusing (plain physical abuse NOT sexually) her kids. He was arrested and spent the night in the county lockup. The claim was false, her father fessed up and told the authorities the truth that it was false, charges were dropped. He always gets into scrapes with these types of women.
Theo ne's he's with now, she seems a bit "mouthy" I like to say and for some reason, when I see her a "little red light" flickers on the dashboard in my mind. Maybe I'm reading her wrong but my experiences at getting burned, well, as the saying goes, "being paranoid does not mean they are NOT out to get you." It ain't being paranoid but you got to be extra careful. All I can say is I would hate to cross her although she told me to do something and I couldn't because I have a job and didn't have the time, she got mouthy and I put her in her place. I hate to see the time when he wants to "zig" and she wants him to "zag," there could be a blowup there. Plus I wonder anout the international issue there, she is Canadian so she can't work here without going to the INS for papers, a green card or whatever you have to do so she is a drag economically, unless you go under the table or do it illegally.
Give that choice and what I have now, I prefer to be alone but like I said a long time ago, I'm letting God take the lead on this one, I have other problems thatn eed to get taken care of, I need to build some financial base first and go from there. I am thankful that I'm more stable economically than my friend though.

In the 80s, we had Poison, Cinderella, and Reagan.
In the 90s, we had Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Clinton.
The 80s win hands down!

Can't find it but basically when I save a lot of photos to the same directory it just bombs out.
I go back in and it might let me put another photo in the directory and it bombs out again.
It especially seem to happen if I have a long tree so it might be because I hitting the DOS limitation of characters.
Though it has only just started to happen so I doubt it is the DOS limitation.
