Just took the kids.

Fabulous--all the Pixar movies are good (A Bug's Life is my least favorite) and this one holds its own with Pixar.

A Red-state movie (the Piston Cup as opposed to the Winston Cup) with lots of funny details for Mom and Dad. Loved it!

Yeah, the snot that does movie reviews for my local paper accused the filmakers of "pandering to the NASCAR crowd". He also seemed annoyed that Larry (Mater) was voice cast.

the only truly "liberal" character in it was a VW van that was a hippie.
He was portrayed as a moonbat, so it was all good.

I've known three people that owned VW vans.
Each of them were 100%, unadulterated, liberal nutburgers.

Of course that's a limited sample size. And they all owned the old
4-cylinder dogs...so maybe the folks with the 6-cylinder models are
a different breed.

But still it's nice to see Hollywood turn out a film with a bit of real-world
in it. Even if it is animated.

One of Pixar's best. Loved it, was amazed by it technically...am often shocked by how conservative the basic premise of these movies is.

Stay until the end. The credits are priceless.

One more thing...

I think the so-so reviews of this film are largely that way because it is full of red state values. Some critics thought is was too retro, according to several sources.

My prediction: It's weak title held it back initially, but it will actually build audience as it goes on and buzz is generated. We plan to see it again, which is very unusual for my family.

The exact same thing happened with "The Incredibles."

It's really shocking to go into a movie braced for the onslaught...only to find yourself agreeing with the premise, the outcome and the priorities.

Pixar really is amazing. Loved the Incredibles. Loved Cars. Tear up thinking about Toy Story. (Especially the middle of TS2.)

IMO, A bugs life is my least favorite. Other than that I am a HUGE fan.

if the owner's manual tell you to take it to the dealership to GET THE HEADLIGHT CHANGED, put the manual down and back slowly away.

I agree with that part. Unfortunately, I just recently got the car from my sister in law, in exchange for a 2000 Ford Explorer (gas prices, mileage, etc.) so it isn't like I had a lot of a choice.

I perused the reviews, and it is true. The leftist critics hated it! Ha Ha!!!

Actually, I only saw half of it. Massive thunderstorms knocked the power out in the theater and everyone was given a readmission pass. First time that's ever happened to me.

Anyway, that was probably the "dirtiest" line in the movie and it was a throwaway as some in the audience didn't hear it or react.

Just got back from taking the kids to see it. And I liked it. Not the best Pixar has done (i.e. not as LOL funny as every single other one), but it was sweet. Super-family-friendly.

The whole movie seemed like a warm-up for the endtakes/credits... now those had me rolling.

Pixar rocks.

I took me a few watches of A Bug's Life to realize that Kevin Spacey player Hopper. But he had one of my favorite lines:

"It's a bug-eat-bug world out there, princess. One of those Circle of Life kind of things."
