So why aren't they proud to be British?
Scotland fields its own team for the World Cup. I'm guessing that Northern Ireland and Wales do as well?
For the Olympics, the UK fields a unified team.
Personally, I really don't give a sh-t if you guys get your jollies from this kiddie sport, more power to you. I just get sick of the semi-humans who comprise the global population outside of our borders who seem to want me to care.

Actually Scotland has qualified before. I think 1990 was the last time.
The Scots have their own football league, completely separate from the English.
Recently I read that theres a pub in Scotland called the Hand of God, in reference to Maradonas infamous goal in 1986; it has wall-size photos of the cheaters goal against England.
So is pizza.
Yes, and Northern Ireland actually beat England 1-0 last September in a World Cup qualifying match.
Pathetic. Away and take your face for a sh*te, you crashing bore..
Healy!!!!
US football evolved from rugby. Baseball evolved from cricket.

Im not so much a soccer fan as a World Cup fan. For the three years and eleven months since the last World Cup, I dont think Ive watched much more than 15 or 20 minutes of soccer. Its kind of like watching the Olympics: the events are dramatic because they are once ever four years and the competitive pool is worldwide.
One can make some political analogies with respect to soccer. First, an individual who is of normal size can succeed in soccer. This is not true for most positions in US football or basketball. Thus, ones inheritance is not ones destiny.
Think of the unearned path to wealth and/or success of so many U.S. liberals: Ted Kennedy (inherited), John Kerry (marriage), Hitlery Clinton (marriage of convenience). Kind of like NFL or NBA players who become stars become they are so freakin big or tall, characteristics they did not earn. The best soccer players work their way to the top, they are not born into it.

I will not dignify that comment with a substantive response.
You probably know that the land of your ancestors has some of the most dedicated soccer fans, the biggest professional clubs and biggest names in soccer on earth.
AC Milan. Juventus. Lazio. Firotina. Totti. Inzaghi. Nesta. Cannavaro. To name a few.
And of course Germany's pride - the Bundesliga.
