The Official Weekend Single's Thread ---May 26 -29 (Memorial Weekend US - Spring Bank Holiday Weekend UK)
Posted by Snugs;proud_yank
This weekend in America is Memorial Weekend a time when Americans honour their military dead.
Tomorrow I will be up on FR at the Sunday Morning talk show thread then will do a Sunday roast for dad and me. A friend maybe coming over in the evening not sure yet, he will give me a ring tomorrow morning to confirm.
He is job seeking and having problems with dial up so he may come round to use my broadband.
If not he is coming round on Monday.
Question to all as Monday is public holiday in the States as well as UK do we want a Singles ping?
Perhaps it's just the local Democratic Party picnic, and they're in the cemetery recruiting new voters?
I did some poking around on the net. Seems like most cemeteries dont allow any food or drink. However, since you were saying that this cemetery has a lot of regular passers-by, and is setup more like a park, it may be thought of differently. Still is kinda odd, though. As long as those people know why the hotdog cart is there and what they are honoring, I think its ok. Hope people dont throw trash off the side of the hay cart. Id probably pick it up and throw it back at them.
This is Seattle/King County. Considering our election fiasco, I wouldn't put it past them.
I don't know. A lot's going to vary on how the kernel update goes...;)
I have a Mac 68k emulator.
To get the emulator to use my host internet connection, I need the sheep_net driver to compile via make (it's currently a C file)
This was all very controlled. I didn't see any trash. The Boy Scouts place flags on the military graves and they have a wonderful memorial service every year. It really is quite a nice and respectful experience. I just never thought about a hayride and hotdogs in a cemetary on such a solemn day.
Okay, I guess I'll just see if you're still here when I get back. I'm off now. See ya later, cutie ;)
See y'all later!
I don't think there would be any harm in doing a Monday ping--there might be a few people around.
I think the thread has died.
I'm still here (just multi-tasking).
Hi Darkie!
Me too. I got a keyboard on my right, and a honkin hot plate of spaghetti on my left.
I tend to have that effect on threads.
A GFI is a Ground Fault Circuit breaker. since 1972, ALL "wet" (IOW, outdoor, such as a swimming pool, deck, or such and bathroom) installations were required to have them, in new installations OR when remodeling.
What they do, is to OPEN the circuit if there is a "fault" to the neutral or ground wire-- such as a defective appliance that would become dangerous and give one a shock, or a hair dryer tossed into a tub of water. In less than the blink of a eye, they will kill the power to the circuit, thus preventing electrocution of someone.
Nowdays, nearly ALL hair dryers, curling irons and other "wet use" appliances have a GFI built into the plug. you can identify these with the large plug that has a "reset" button on it. If one of these falls into a sink or tub, the power will be cut to the device immediately, and prevent the electrocution hazard.
In your case, perhaps if the breaker tripping is in the bathroom, maybe you have a GFI there. Otherwise, I suspect the hair dryer is wasted and presenting a short to the power source.
Oh Stop! Silly!
You're making me hungry with talk of spaghetti. I've been on this low-carb diet for three months--it's working great, but I would really love to down a plate of pasta right now, lathered in rich, garlicy tomato sauce. Instead, I probably will have to fix myself a pork chop or something.
The hairdryer is brand new (and has the reset thing on the plug). Ive unplugged it from the bathroom and plugged it into a powerstrip first, and then plugged that into a different part of the house. OH!!! We live in an apartment, 2nd floor. Could that have anything to do with anything? Ive lived in some other old apartments and never encountered this problem before.
What say you, Dr. Jack? Can I be saved?
I need to diet right now. I've gained some considerable amount of weight. The Atkins diet (when I am actually on it) is the only thing that's ever worked for me.
