What I also do know about burning audio CD's, is my home stereo for example, won't even play a properly burned audio CD if the burned CD is a CD-RW disk. I found that out when I first got a CD burning drive a few years ago, and that was my first CD I burned.

I've had similar issues with older stereos. The newer ones usually don't have problems so long as the disc is properly closed during burning.

Case in point, the car radios my folks have will only play a few burned CD-R's (no RW's).

Luckily though, I haven't made a Coasters Greatest Hits CD turn into a drink coaster, by fudging up the burning process...... yet. LOL

That happened once when I tried to make a copy of Dark Side of the Moon--to replace the one I scratched to death...

I had one CD-R goof up on me last summer. My home stereo wouldn't play it. The "reading CD" light kept flashing. But my DVD drive in my living room played all but the first track perfectly. I started with track 1, and the DVD player just skipped to track 2. The home stereo just wouldn't play it at all.

Theoretically, it shouldn't make a difference.

Though personally, I'd use an RW to make sure the thing burns. After it burns and the stuff shows up, then I'd burn it to an R.

That way, if the RW gets fudged, you can still erase it and try again.

Is this in the backup folder or the CD?

For data backup, like your QuickBooks files, it shouldn't matter if you use a CD-RW or CD-R disk. My uncle has used CD-RW's without a problem. CD-R's are "write once", CD-RW's can have the data on them wiped clean, and written over multiple times.

Know the feeling.

Though I can't say right now because I used my internal RW to death...:|

Yeah, if you goof up a CD-R, it's good for being used as a drink coaster or Rover's chewtoy or frisbee. If you goof up a burn to a CD-RW, you can always burn it again.

Yeah, I use my burner alot. I especially use alot of CD-RW disks because I have an MP3 player in my car, and I usually go a few days or a week or so with the same songs, then I reburn it over with a different set of songs to listen to in the car.
