We are here. I was thinking it might be fun to get him to start posting here and convince him to host the singles thread with me...

When I IM wiht my niece and such, he IMs me from the other room.

It is strange having three puters in one apartment and all three needed the HD scrub treatment. So far only two have gotten it. The other is disconnected and it needs to be recovered from the disks.

Two puters were compromised by a former friend (downloading men in tights and lipstick...) and the third was purchased as an emergency spare, but since it was a demo model, the fastest way to get garbage off was to do sys restore.

Next I figure out how to network and share peripherals.

Oh, and hubby found a great job with a little local bank. (JP Morgan Chase...)

Yes it was the IBM PC compatible using the 8086 Intel chip.

It actually had a VGA colour monitor as well which in 1989/1990 was considered state of the art.

It came with DOS 3.3 Operating system and Lotus Symphony, names from the past

I remember those times too. I remember when I worked for an engineering firm, the '386 was common, the '486 was state of the art until the Pentium was rolled out. A huge hard drive held 200 megs. I know I'm behind the times on this Pentium II, 266 MHz model but I do have a huge 200 Gig HD on it when my old 6.4 Gig croaked on me. Back then, we had Windows 3.1 (which Mom still likes to use on the '486) was the most advanced system that ran on top of DOS 5.0 to 6.22.

The man I kayaked with today has a kitty Sasha. She was born in 1985!!!!

His pix(John) & holding his kitty Sasha are on my profile page.

She can only eat baby food now..and canned tuna.. well that is all she does eat. Prolly can eat more but fussy as cats are & she is an aging gal!

Hubby is a bit on the shy side and may have a hard time with the idea, but I am game.

Things are still a bit rocky with juggling babysitting duty and taxi service for the oldest son, so we need to talk to son and DIL to arrange a weekend where we can plan ahead to do this.

It should be fun!

Hi, folks. Hope you're all enjoying the holiday weekend. Can't stay around tonight (I'm pooped from all the revelry today), but just wanted to share with you part of the lyrics of a song I sang this morning in church that really bring home the sacrifices made by our military over the years.

What Did He Die For (Twila Paris)

He was twenty-one in 1944
He was hope and he was courage on a lonely shore
Sent there by a mother with love beyond her tears
Just a young American who chose to rise above his fears
And as I watch him struggle up that hill
Without a thought of turning back
I cannot help but wonder

What did he die for?
When he died for you and me
Made the sacrifice
So that we could all be free
I believe we will answer each to heaven
For the way we spend a priceless liberty
Look inside and ask the question
What did he die for,
When he died for me.
