BEHIND nearly every good bar fight is a beautiful woman - and the epic nightclub clash between Axl Rose and Tommy Hilfiger is no exception. While some say Hilfiger popped Rose in the eye after the Guns N' Roses frontman moved Hilfiger's girlfriend's drink at The Plumm last Thursday night, Page Six has learned that the combatants have been at odds since Rose started dating Diane O'Connor, the ex-wife of Hilfiger's adopted brother, denim designer Michael H.
One source even went so far as to claim that the Hilfiger brothers had made a "pact" to pummel Rose on sight. While we're not sure we believe that the preppie fashion icon - who just sold his empire for $1.6 billion - would engage in such premeditated thuggery, it might explain his seemingly unprovoked attack on Rose.
A spokeswoman for Hilfiger declined repeated requests for comment yesterday, and Rose's manager did not return calls.
But Rose told Page Six in an exclusive interview after the brawl that Hilfiger may have been angry because the designer - whom Rose described as "foaming at the mouth" - had been told to move to make room for the rock god and his entourage.
Other witnesses said Hilfiger went nuclear after Rose moved a drink belonging to Hilfiger's girlfriend.
When Guns N' Roses took the stage shortly after the scuffle to perform an acoustic set to mark actress Rosario Dawson's 27th birthday, Rose - sporting a small red mark under his eye - dedicated the song "You're Crazy" to "my good friend Tommy Hilfiger."
But if O'Connor was the reason for his rift with Hilfiger, Rose was sticking to his story on Sunday afternoon, when artist Mark Kostabi ran into him on Ninth Avenue in Chelsea.
Kostabi, who designed the cover of GN'R's 1991

You ever read this about Kerrys boyfriend? You know I thought it was just a joke when they called this Edwards an "ambulance chaser", but my God, this guy truly IS an ambulance chaser! Read this...
"Before entering politics, Edwards was a successful trial attorney dealing with personal injury. He represented families and children that had allegedly been wrongly injured by through negligence by corporations and government entities, or by medical malpractice. Edwards made his personal fortune through his work and now has an estimated total net worth of between $22 million and $69.7 million.
Edwards's first important case was tried in 1984, winning $3.7 million on behalf of a man disabled during treatment for alcoholism. In 1985, Edwards won a $6.5 million verdict in a cerebral palsy case for medical malpractice during childbirth. According to a New York Times article, "Edwards filed at least 20 similar lawsuits against doctors and hospitals in deliveries gone wrong, winning verdicts and settlements of more than $60 million, typically keeping about a third."
...Freggin` TWENTY?? And these two idiots had the gall to talk about the high cost of health insurance?
That was Velvet Underground. I'm thinking of Velvet Revolver.
Now Now, Axl, was playing guitar for NIN as some time, I know, and that makes him numero uno in my musical playbook.
Axl and K-Fed and their braids.
When I was playing in a country band, sometimes a couple of us would go out as a duo. This was during the height of Guns and Roses popularity. We'd go out as Guns and Tackle!. Bobby Guns and Jimmy Tackle!
Oh Axl, say it isn't so...you got your ass whipped by a pansy designer?? ....hahahahahahahhaahahhahhahahaaha!!!!!!
Did he sign your new shiner under your wittle itty-bitty eyeball? ...hahahahahaahahahahahahha....I just can't stand it....I'm ROTFLMAO and am so tickled with this.....I'm sorry about that!!
I'd always thought "Tommy Hilfiger" was just a made-up brand name. Learn something new every day.
Hilfiger is straight? That's the real news here.
"Hi - yah!"

Well, he could be. I've known a few lesser known designers who were.
On the other hand, there are some folks who sport a person of the opposite sex at social events. They pass this person off as their "boyfriend" or "girlfriend" presumably to keep away "inquiring minds." However, those in the know are well aware that the celeb is really gay. I believe that's how Rock Hudson got away with being in the closet for so many years.
I agree.
First and last good album GnR had was "Appetite for Destruction", circa 1987.

I agree...this was probably GnR's best recording. But I was also one of maybe 2 or 3 people who liked Use Your Illusion I and II. The purists, I know, hated the addition of symphony orchestra and what not. In my opinion, a band should from time to time mix it up -- experiment -- so they don't go stale. Often the experiments go awry, but it's better than listening to the same old, same old all the time.
The trouble with Axl was that he was not just experimenting -- he was I think taking the band to places far removed from its hard rock roots and not even thinking about bringing it back to those roots at some point. Presumably, that was what contributed to the breakup of the original lineup. It is that edgy hard rock that Slash and his crew are serving up with Velvet Revolver. Axl I think shot himself in the foot by not trying to hold on to his original lineup. That is why he can't match the success he had previously...or the success VR has enjoyed.
Axle was brought to his chaanaaanaanaanaa knees!
Traci eventually left and he was replaced with Slash.

I've only hear a little bit of "VR" on the radio and it sounds decent, but I haven't heard enough of it to make a good opinion of them.
I have heard some samples of Axl's new band and I don't like it all. IMO, it sounds like crap.
Rosario Dawson is a goddess. I've been fortunate enough to see her in person, at an art gallery about two years ago.
Oh great. Thanks a lot. Now I can't get "WTTJ" out of my head.

Admittedly, I've only heard their first CD -- Contraband. I think they have another one out now, but I haven't heard it. Anyway, Contraband was quite good.

Agreed. And I don't believe he will ever have the success he had with the former GnR. Too bad. According to the story, he was the one who alienated Slash, et al. And now he is s-o-l.
