Britney Spears' child-care techniques seem to be growing positively "Toxic" - she nearly dropped her 8-month-old son on his head yesterday as she tottered out of a posh Manhattan hotel with a glass in one hand and the tyke in another. The baby-bobbling bungle began at about 6 p.m., as the "Not That Innocent" pop tart left the Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Central Park South, holding her kid, Sean Preston, and what witnesses said was a tumbler of water and ice (photo, far left).
While heading to a car, her long pants appeared to get tangled in her open-toed shoes (inset, far left) just as she stepped past a pothole, witnesses said.
Then - oops! - Britney started to tumble. Sean Preston's head whipped back in what a witness called a "violent manner," his chubby arm swung up and his little hat went flying off .
"Her bodyguard had some good reactions," an onlooker said of the quick catch . "[He] grabbed the baby before he hit the floor."
Despite the tumble, Britney managed not to spill a drop of her drink. Then she muttered to fotogs in her Louisiana accent, "This is why I need a gun."
The incident left her clearly shaken up - afterwards she was seen in tears at FAO Schwarz (right inset).

Most of us would carry the baby in a baby carrier or put the baby in a stroller.
I never say a word.
Being a first-time new mom is just about the hardest thing on earth. I feel sorry for Spears, having to learn this in the spotlight.
This girl doesn't need a gun she needs a common sense implant.
So she can shoot potholes??

Agreed. The more I see this kind of article, the more sympathy I have for Britney.
Some people should not be allowed to reproduce!
I'm confused. WHY would tripping over her own feet cause her to need a gun? What did I miss here?
I had (and actually still have) a really evil younger sister who, at age 11, purposely pushed my littlest sister aged 2 years, who was in her stroller, down 3 concrete steps. At 55, my evil sister is really much more stupid than evil, and, fortunately, no damage was done to the youngest sister. Good thing too. The "baby" (age 45) and me (over 55)are the best of friends today. We gave up on the middle sister years ago...

Well, it's real insofar as it's a picture of a pregant woman smoking a cigarette. But it's not Britney Spears, despite the name of the photo ("Britney-793273.jpg").
If you look at the lower left corner, you see a few white spikes, as if something was cropped off the bottom. It was -- that's the top of the logo of "CJ" (consumptionjunction.com), a weird/sick/porn website. I will not post a link to it because that site is completely incompatible with the morals of FR.
Anyway, no way is that Britney. Besides, I don't think the real Britney's got a tat like that across her abdomen. I'm no fan of hers, but geez, let's give the girl -some- credit.
I missed it, too. I am very clumsy, but it never occured to me to shoot whatever I tripped over/ran into/fell over.
At around 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, a Sheriffs Deputy from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriffs Department accompanied investigators from the Department Of Children and Family Services to the Malibu home of Britney Spears. The Associated Press reports:
Its a very standard, routine patrol request, Lt. Debra Glaskides said Tuesday. We just roll out with them. We stood by, we took no action, no report or anything.
The Sheriffs Department said it was a DCFS matter and couldnt release any information. Glaskides said there may not even be a DCFS investigation
I agree.
> So she can shoot potholes??
I'd guess, so she can shoot fotogs.
She has my sympathy on this one. I carried my daughter around a lot when she was an infant, and it's not easy. I learned to use a sling, but even that wasn't foolproof. Babies are the crowning life-example for the phrase, "SH*T HAPPENS".
and stopped suddenly. She kept going. I got in trouble.
And that is when you first realized the potential of a steam cat and developed a fascination for its mechanics and operation.
If I knew I was going to be chased, I wouldn't wear pants so long I'd risk tripping on them.
It's a pacifier.
Thanks. Good work, btw.
