DURHAM, N.C.—One of three Duke University lacrosse players charged with rape wants the case resolved in time for the next school year, his lawyer said in court yesterday. But the judge warned he will not fast-track the proceedings.
The case "is not going to jump ahead of the line and be handled any differently," Superior Court Judge Ronald L. Stephens said at a hearing for sophomore Reade Seligmann.
After the brief hearing, District Attorney Mike Nifong said he does not expect any trial to begin before next year.

Wouldn't common sense tell the SANE nurse to do a blood draw to check for date rape drugs, considering she was reporting a rape, and a rape kit was used? How can that slip past anyone?

Maybe, because the false accuser gave an account of what happened including the way in which she was "raped" the SANE nurse assumed she was not drugged.

If the accuser was "out of it" as the reports indicate, she should have been tested for potential overdoses of drugs.

"immediately"....I don't think that is possible with a drug taken orally.....absorption and distribution to the brain where it can take effect takes a long time with oral drugs, although it is very nearly "immediate" with inhaled/smoked or intravenous drugs......

Cheshire added that he doesn't think Nifong can argue that the accuser was raped by men who wore condoms or who used inanimate objects. The accuser and another exotic dancer hired to perform at the party, Kim Roberts, have said one of the players brandished a broomstick.
He contended that condoms would have left trace evidence, and noted that police haven't seized a broomstick or some other object that could have been used in an attack.
And let's not forget, the person said to have given the accuser the drink was none other than Kim Roberts.
maybe they found heroin and/or cocaine/crack in her and that is why Nifong wants to suppress it?

You think Nifong is going to say the report is being kept secret to protect CGM?
If so, why didn't he say the report would not be there the day of the hearing and explain why?
Did the search warrant list drugs?
Why wait and then be made to look bad when the defense hollers about the lack of a tox report?
What can he say now to explain the fact that it's not there, or to explain why he didn't tell the defense it wouldn't be there?

I wouldn't be so sure. She could have refused to give them a blood sample. She's loopy enough to have done something like that.
