Given her history of mental instability (as reported by both parents , her aunt and cousin Jack ) that is a distinct possibility.
IIRC, the father said she was hospitalized in 05 for "nerves."
That could have been as recently as 4 months prior to her arriving at the house. It's hard to believe that she wasn't on medication.
