DURHAM, N.C.One of three Duke University lacrosse players charged with rape wants the case resolved in time for the next school year, his lawyer said in court yesterday. But the judge warned he will not fast-track the proceedings.
The case "is not going to jump ahead of the line and be handled any differently," Superior Court Judge Ronald L. Stephens said at a hearing for sophomore Reade Seligmann.
After the brief hearing, District Attorney Mike Nifong said he does not expect any trial to begin before next year.

I was going to point out all the factual errors in this article but the list got just too long.
For example...
"a cab driver who has since been not only been discredited, but arrested on an old charge to prove and provide alibis"
Anyone want to have at it?
To: TommyDale
That makes sense since the 2nd "striper" is the one that dumped her off to the police.

"I have said from the beginning, that Nifong is minimally looking to be the next US Attorney for his state...."
Never mind that Nifong is a Democrat. Does that mean you anticipate the next of the US getting elected to be a Democrat?

How about that "observers" believe that Nifong has a player who has turned state's evidence?
Who are these mysterious, unnamed observers?
To: GAgal
Ever since I read that Nifong had plaeed the accuser in a "safe location", I've worried about what that might mean. Has his wife, the victim advocate, taken her in hand. Is she hard at work "rehabilitatng" the accuser's appearance, speech, "attitude", substance abuse problem, parenting skills, etc. Reminds me of the movie Citizen Ruth. They are probably working on her real hard.

And why weren't the two cases joined? Same evidence, same incident. Yeah it is real funny Nifong wanted the rape cases tried together but not this.

"Did the guys who found the phone at least check all the phone numbers and contacts, to see if any District Attorneys or judges were on her client list?"
What are you insinuating here?

Until now, I didn't think of Durham when I thought of corruption. No wonder they don't want to give these boys a speedy trial. Right and no wonder the Judge didn't want to reduce bail. The elected officials in this town make my skin crawl.

As per Abrams last night. If there is a "turncoat" lax player then the defense knows it as of now because it would have had to have been part of the evidence handed over. Since there is no crime there is nothing to "turncoat" on.
The mysterious, unnamed observers are the other guys in the newsroom.
To: marajade
Huh? I wasn't insinuating anything.

They are talking about the use of a date rape drug in the article. I posted a question on FR about this before- what does it prove if she does have a date rape drug in her system if there is no evidence (DNA) of rape? For some reason some people seem to be grasping at straws!

The proposal followed a challenging week for Baker. He was criticized publicly by defense attorneys for his close supervision of the Duke lacrosse rape investigation, and he was forced to accept the resignation of the city's new solid waste director after trash across the city went uncollected.Does the article indicate WHY the trash went uncollected? Was someone collecting "evidence"? Were public employees involved in "collecting evidence"?

The alleged victims father has repeatedly said that when he saw his daughter come home from the hospital the morning after, her jaw was swollen, her body was bruised, and her leg was injured, impairing her ability to walk.Certified authorities have authenticated the time/date stamped photos that Crystal fell down the stairs.

http://gtrc.blogspot.com/ Next week the Greensboro Truth and Reconciliation Commission
from their website:
The report itself will be released to the public and posted online (at
http://www.greensborotrc.org/) the evening of May 25, without the customary early release to media outlets. Instead of relying on others interpretations, the public will be able to read and process for themselves the GTRCs findings and conclusions on the context, causes, sequence and consequence of Greensboros tragedy of Nov. 3, 1979.
On that day, Klan and Nazi members killed five labor organizers and wounded ten others at a Death to the Klan rally organized in a public housing community by the Communist Workers Party. Klan and Nazi defendants were acquitted of murder and civil rights violations in state and federal criminal trials. However, a civil trial found that Klansmen, Nazis and two members of the Greensboro Police Department were jointly liable for one wrongful death.
