A Honduran teenager faces deportation after being charged with stealing an anti-immigration protest sign.
Joel Martines, 19, was arrested May 11 on charges he stole the sign outside a convenience store where day laborers seek work. The store has been the scene of protests supporting stricter enforcement of immigration laws.
While Martines was in custody, immigration authorities determined he entered the country illegally last year through Texas.

These illegals aren't exactly the best and brightest, are they?

I think Jeff Foxworthy has a sign he can give this guy. "Hey Pedro, here's YOUR sign!"

It's a he.
And, not bet.
As a side note, I've modified my position on illegals. I've decided that we should deport only the men and the unattractive/old women. Young attractive women should be given a "Hottie Amnesty."

Illegal invaders figure if they can get away with breaking our immigration laws, why should they respect other laws? They are laughing at our limp-wristed response to their invasion. We had better wake up and put our collective feet down before it's too late.

Your idea may have some merit. But there are more than enough hot Puerto Rican and legal Cuban chicks to go around.

The audacity of it all. He comes here illegally, and then wants those who are here legally to shut up. Holy crap.

The only thing wrong with this story is that it says he MAY BE deported rather than saying he has been deported.

I am assuming this story is supposed to make us all feel sorry for this poor illegal immigrant. How dare we deport someone for breaking the law TWICE.
If he were a legal American citizen he'd probably go to jail for breaking the law.

Dear Joel Martinez,
Thank you for making it easy for our border enforcement personnel. Please encourage your compadres to follow your example.
FRegards.

The "Robert" plan is simple.
1. seal the borders to prevent any further unlawful entry into the US.
2. All illegal immigrants must register by the end of 2006. This should include fingerprints and background checks before a provisional ssn identifier is assigned.
3. The immigrant will be given his/her rights and responsibilities. This should include notice that any criminal act will result in immediate deportation.
4. No amnesty..... Anyone here as of now will be given a work permit which will remain valid as long as they are working and do not violate our laws.
Anyone caught here after 12/31/06 without proper registration will be immediately deported an barred for life from reentry into the country. I would think a SIS conviction for violation of our immigration laws should be put on the books and that a long prison sentence should be given and enforced if they do reenter the country.
