DENVER (AP) A man taking a break from painting burned down his house this weekend after trying to snuff a cigarette in a bowl of paint thinner.
Stevie Spencer had put the bowl on his coffee table before taking a smoke break about 10 p.m. Saturday.
"I forgot paint thinner was in the bowl," Spencer said. "I thought it was water."
The fire from the paint thinner ignited some papers, Spencer said. He evacuated his wife from the house, then tried to extinguish the flames with a hose. He suffered minor injuries before abandoning the house.
Spencer estimated the fire destroyed his house in about 15 minutes.
The American Red Cross is helping the family with clothes and a place to stay.
The next DNC Chairman.
"Worst of all," Spencer added, "my paintbrushes are all stiff and ruined because I accidentally cleaned them with water."
ping
nah, he's just a paint sniffer, not an actual painter.
Oops.
Pull him out of the gene pool.
I wondered if the mention of the Red Cross implies he doesn't have any. I'm hoping my insurer didn't assume such a risk as this guy.
ping!
I'm surprised he didn't drink the "bowl of water".
Smokin' 'n paintin' with solvent based paints, a Darwinian idea.
My mom used to go into her assisted living facility "smoking room" towing her little tank of oxygen with her. They also caught her smoking in her private room, absolutely forbidden, but she did it anyway she was so addicted to cigarettes.
Did this guy take the small bus to school? I hope he didn't produce any offspring...
Did this guy take the small bus to school?
No, he took his lunch to school.
I don't know HOW many times I've done that! I need to stop leaving open bowls of flammable liquids around the living room!
Oh man, I tried not to laugh... poor guy, I feel sorry for him.
If only the Denver city council would have banned all smoking in the city.
Or, another way to look at it --- when you're born dumb, you stay that way a long time.
"A good painter is hard to find..." and a hard painter is good to find? I assume Mrs. NY77 thinks so.
