Fox story here

UPI story:MIAMI, May 14 (UPI) -- Florida wildlife officials may have killed an alligator responsible for the death of a 28-year-old jogger in Miami.

Florida Fish and Wildlife officials had set traps since the dismembered body of Yovy Suarez Jimenez was found in a canal Wednesday.

They said Saturday a 9 ½-foot-long gator was found and killed near where Jimenez' body was found.

Two human arms were found in the gator's stomach but haven't been confirmed as those belonging to the Jimenez, a college student from Davie, Fla., and an aspiring model, CNN reports.

"We strongly suspect this is the alligator," said state Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Dani Moschella. Test results are due back Monday.

Jimenez went missing Tuesday night while she was jogging alongside the canal.

Broward County Medical Examiner Dr. Joshua Perper said he thinks the gator attacked Jimenez and dragged her into the canal but killed her before she drowned.

She was the 18th human victim of Florida alligators since 1948.

I am always very careful whenever I'm around lakes and canals in Florida. This was a dreadful, horrible attack...that poor woman.

Yep, like I said, that's why I don't jog anymore.

Even in Michigan. The wolverines are as nasty as alligators.

This is a case for CSI:Miami.

It's not the gator.

Is this the OJ jury investigating this case?

otoh, that gator's family will have a heck of a lawsuit if they killed the wrong gator.

What the FWCC SpokesPerson didn't tell the public is WHY the gators are attacking people. There are a few core reasons for such attacks and they are mostly BAAAAAD management decisions. But those decisions did grow the FWCC as an agency. To bad such decisions caused people to be killed, but "Agency Uber Alles" rules here in Florida.

Reason 1:
The FWCC has insisted on keeping alligators as a "species of special concern". This means that you can't just shoot an alligator that you feel is a threat to you. You must call the FWCC and they will eventually, possibly, do something. Think 'Call 911 - and die'.

But you are calling someone in a green uniform, not blue. Chances are, the "responder" will be green in orientation, too. Their basic faulty premise is that the gator has rights, that gators are soooo intrinsically valuable, and co-equal to us, that we must be very careful before allowing the nice AuthorityPerson to kill a "nuisance gator".

Note that they are not called "dangerous predators".

Reason 2: The citizen's Unalienable Right to defend one's life was destroyed by draconian game laws passed and enforced by the FWCC. The citizen not only risks felony level prison sentences and huge fines, the FWCC's confiscation powers allow them to take vehicles, etc.

The citizen's Unalienable Right to defense is also removed by the ban on carrying firearms on state lands, like canal banks, parks, etc. Please ermember that the model was jogging along a canal bank, but was not armed.

She was rendered mere meat on the table, oops, make that meat on the hoof (Nikes?), for an alligator thanks to the FWCC's refusal to allow the citizens their Second Amendment Right "to keep and bear their private arms".

Reason 3: The FWCC has become the unregulated statewide UberCop, a sort of green storm trooper.

They can break into your home if they think you have violated a game law. Caught and filleted the frong fish? Could be you are now a felon - in which case, prepare to have your door kicked in, your house trashed during the "search for evidence" and then have your bank account frozen, your vehicles confiscated, and your home seized.

All are now "legal", possible, and have happened in Florida.

Welcome to FloriDUH, where the laws and attitudes of the late, unlamented Third Reich are alive and on the law books.

The FWCC runs around Florida in vehicles with "State Wide Law Enforcement" written all over them. There is a message there.

Make sure this does not happen to you in your state. My old colleagues in GangGreen ARE planning this for the rest of America.

I thought one of the reports said that she had been seen dangling her feet in the water?

One time, DH and I were visiting a son at his college in Fla. The campus had a swamp with great waterfowl AND alligators. You could see the gators swimming along with their snouts above the water. Being a birdwatcher, I was in heaven. A groundskeeper saw me with my binoculars on a grassy area. He said if I really wanted a good look at the birds to go around to the back of the swamp. He took me to a secluded area (?smart me?) where there were fallen trees, mushy ground and a great close view of the swamp. When I asked about the alligators, he said that they had removed all the ones over 12 feet. Then his shift was over, he wished me good birding and left. It was a perfect birding spot! But as I'm stepping over ?logs? and watching for anything long and moving, it all of a sudden dawned on me that NO ONE knew I was there and that the groundskeeper was off duty! No 12 footers, but isn't a smaller one dangerous, too? So I carefully and slowly got out of there! I never saw any gators, except swimming in the water, but looking back I thought of what a stupid thing I had done!
