May 13, 2006 The second round of DNA test results in the Duke University rape investigation show "no conclusive match'' to any lacrosse players, defense attorneys said, but a vaginal swab of the alleged rape victim produced DNA from a "single male source'' a man not on the lacrosse team who did not attend a March 13 party that was the site of the alleged rape.
Joe Cheshire, a defense attorney for Duke University lacrosse players at the center of a rape investigation, said the latest tests show no conclusive match to any of the lacrosse players' DNA. (ABC News
Defense attorney Joe Chesire declined to identify the mystery man or his connection to the alleged victim, but ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned that the unnamed source of the DNA is the alleged victim's "boyfriend," according to her mother.
ABC News is withholding the name of the man because he is apparently not a target of the investigation. Records indicate that Durham, N.C., police gave the "boyfriend'' a cheek swab to collect DNA on May 3, ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned exclusively.
It is unclear if or how the first DNA tests missed what appears to be the only foreign genetic material found on the alleged victim's body, defense attorneys said. Two Duke lacrosse players were indicted more than two weeks before the cheek swab was taken from the "boyfriend."
It is also unclear whether the alleged victim had sex with the "boyfriend" the night she claims to have been raped by three Duke lacrosse players. DNA experts tell ABC News that genetic traces of semen can remain in the body up to six days after intercouse.

I don't recall anything having been mentioned about "professional lacrosse".
You gotta' be kidding!
On the other hand, gamblers (professional and otherwise) are all the time looking for something new to gamble on, especially some sport not closely watched by the NCAA. BTW, you did catch that ref I placed about the pros betting on the DNA test results in this case, right?
Student on-line gambling has become a social problem.
I know my son and his friends would have made the big "EEE-UUU" sound had someone suggested they have sex with her or KR. I'd bet the nice young men from the Duke Lacross team wouldn't have considered it either, even if she had paid them.
In a private conversation that could be heard across the 6th floor, Nifong told lawyer Kerry Sutton that he was unhappy with a Friday press conference in which defense attorneys said a second round of DNA tests could not conclusively link any player to the March 13 incident.
This morning moments after Nifong spoke to Sutton, Raleigh lawyer Joseph B. Cheshire V, who represents a lacrosse team captain, tried to see Nifong, but was told that the district attorney was not available.
I didn't want to bring that up because I couldn't imagine anyone betting on Lacross, BUT, that is whay my husband and I truly believe was behind our son's unfortunate situation. It hit the day before the big game which is the only game broadcast locally in St. Louis. It also hit the day after he received his official visit notice from Notre Dame. Our house had been stalked for weeks (cars of adult black males sitting at the foot of our driveway). I white guy with a camera, dressed like he was directly out of central casting for a Los Vegas gambler trespassing all over our yard (front and fenced back) taking pictures.
Then, one of our son's "acquaintances" was roughed up by some very unsavory gentlemen from the black community when he got over a $1,000 in debt with the local bookies on line. We were pretty sure, after all the stalking, burglaries of our vehicles, etc., that we were targeted.
"I'm still trying to get past the idea the ANY of these boys would risk unprotected sex with Crystal." HIV!!!!!!!
Good point about why Nifong got so far out on a limb on the DNA.
I was stunned to see the post about gambling, so forgive the typ-os. "whay" should be "what", "I white guy," should be "A white guy".
NiFong seems to be saying that how he was going to present the DNA has been blown.
(I'm getting really cynical).
NiFong is unhappy? GASP
The dastardly defense fought back against NiFongs' selective leak to the media? Well, alrighty then! Let's just indict another innocent guy! That'll show em!
I think Nifong does not have a clue as to how unhappy he is going to eventually be with the defense in this case. I hope a 2006 Duke Lacrosse families group very very careful watches what he does from now on.
"In 1996, when she was 17, her then-boyfriend heard about these other guys she did while she was 14 - 3 guys at once. He goes off, and she lies to cover it up, by claiming she was gang raped. He insists she go file a report about it, which she does.
Nothing ever happens with it because she didn't push it, didn't act like it was real, or did something that convinced police she was making it up."
I think you're right. I think she made the "rape" up....an excuse for promiscuous behavior. The guys were never charged because it was consensual sex; she had a child by the encounter. That child is 12 now...could be going on 13 years of age. Crystal is 27 now.
Grand Jury finished.....tick tick tick
I really dislike it when the word disenfranchised is applied to the likes of Crystal, her boyfriend and the rest of the Durham hoodlums.
The meaning of the word, "deprived of the rights of citizenship", implies that somebody took their rights away. Nobody took their rights away. These losers have been scamming and lying and making poor decisions their entire lives. They had as much chace as anybody else to be franchised.

I wondered if Nifong would seal the indictment so that the accused would have to go home and be arrested?
I'll bet the lineup of girls in courtroom sitting behind these guys will be really attractive girls. Some of the jurors are going to look at the girlfriends and then look at Roberts and Mangum and go, they're going to touch those two when they've got that. Crude I know, but also true.
"Every time I read one of their divisive, arrogant post I know there is a democrat reading the same thing and thinking, YES ! this is great, they are eating their own. What a pity the real "true conservatives" around here are so busy preening and admiring themselves they can't hear the snickering."
That is exactly what I think as well. We KNOW they are checking us out. We KNOW the lies they tell about us and what we, as conservatives, stand for. Then we play right into their hands with some of the vitriol posted here.
I am NOT against anyone posting their heart felt convictions and venting against things that they think are not being done right. I believe in freedom of expression, but for crying out loud, the way some folks express themselves is positively hateful.
I am learning, slowly, that I just have to avoid certain topics, or quickly scroll past a handful of posters when reading here.
I can't give up Free Republic. This place gets into your blood, lol. I just have learned to be very selective, and not give into the impulse to answer some of these folks back. I don't want to be on the receiving end of some of the things I've read here.
