Ferris Bueller's Day Off: 20th Anniversary Edition
Sydney Morning Herald ^ | 5/3/06 | Iain Mckay

Posted on 05/05/2006 12:16:08 PM PDT by qam1

Matthew Broderick stars in the '80s teen comedy about rebelling in style.

Every kid has known a Ferris Bueller, that kid with the zen-like state of mind who seems impossibly mature, infuriatingly confident, never less than charming and usually gets what he wants. And this being the infamous decade of greed, that means conspicuous consumption.

Our '80s Ferris is played with great style by a young Matthew Broderick who, tired of school drudgery, borrows a Ferrari and convinces some friends to accompany him to Chicago for the day.

Naturally all this is to be accomplished without anyone noticing, without any consequences and with maximum cool, a sleight of hand only a Ferris-like state of mind is capable of. Teen rebellion with style.

Classic. Charlie plays a great part.

I like the part in the garage leaving the Ferrari and the parking guy says: "Hey...I'm professional", as he slithers into the car...and they end up going for a joy ride.

Have you heard about the Awesome 80's Prom? It's an interactive show like Tony and Tina's wedding. I'm not sure I could convince my husband to go, but it looks like a blast.

This movie is my husbands favorite!

Matthew Broderick is also good in "Ladyhawk".
We watched it with our 12 year old just this last weekend.
She loved it! I'm not sure that I want her to see FBDO yet.

.....I *am* getting sick and tired of the 80s being referred to as the age of greed.....

Check out the picture in post 28 and then review your words......

It looks like Ferris cut his class on fiscal and monetary policy. It would appear they were weaned on momey, money , money in high school. :)

That is a great sight gag that I have never seen before.

CAMERON
(grim monotone)
1958 Ferrari 250 GTS California. Less
than a hundred were made. It has a
market value of $265,000. My father
spent three years restoring it. It
is joy, it is his love, it is his
passion.

FERRIS
It is his fault he didn't lock the
garage.

CAMERON
Ferris, my father loves this car more
than life itself. We can't take is out.

FERRIS
A man with priorities so far out of
whack doesn't deserve such a fine
automobile.

CAMERON
He never drives it, Ferris. He just
rubs it with a diaper.

Oh man, you missed it.

Life is like a hurricane here in Duckburg
Race cars, lasers, aeroplanes - it's a duck blur
You might solve a mystery or rewrite history

Duck Tales, Oo-oo
Tales of derring-do, bad and good luck tales, oo-oo

D-d-d-danger, watch behind you - there's a stranger out to find you
What to do? Just grab onto some Duck Tales, oo-oo!
Not pony tails or cotton tails but Duck Tales, oo-oo!

When it seems they're headed for the final curtain
Bold deduction never fails, that's for certain
The worst of messes become successes!

Duck Tales, Oo-oo
Tales of derring-do, bad and good luck tales, oo-oo
Not pony tails or cotton tails but Duck Tales, oo-oo!
