DURHAM, N.C., April 22 — The Duke University lacrosse team's troubles began with a phone call.
A team captain using an assumed name called an escort service to hire two exotic dancers for a party on March 13. Last week, two Duke players were indicted (snip)
To all but some of the people at the party, the truth of what happened that night to one of the dancers, who accused three white players of raping her in a bathroom, is a mystery.
Mr. Nifong says a sexual assault occurred, based on hospital records and the account of the accuser, who is black. A second dancer and a neighbor corroborated some of the accuser's details.
Defense lawyers say the accuser was drunk when she arrived at the party, and fabricated the assault. Taxi and bank receipts and dormitory access records prove that Mr. Seligmann could not have raped the woman, his lawyer says. (snip)
About 8:30 p.m., a 27-year-old single mother of two answered her phone. That woman, a Durham native, was enrolled at North Carolina Central, a historically black college on the south side of town. Its patchy grass and simple brick buildings are a world away from Duke.

The accuser said later that both women re-entered the house after one player apologized for the behavior during their dance. She said two men then pulled her into a bathroom, locked the door and said, "Sweetheart, you can't leave."
It was then, she told the police, that Mr. Seligmann forced her to perform oral sex, and Mr. Finnerty raped and sodomized her and the third suspect strangled her, according to a transcript of a photo identification session with police on April 4. (snip)

I hate to admit this, but here goes....I've been to frat parties that are being slammed by this other poster--they were thirty years ago---In the seventies!! You don't even know what a frat party is unless you went to one in the seventies.
They were so fun, and we didn't have to worry about key baskets, because we all walked.
I won't even tell the stories, but they still make me grin.
I'm married, a mother of three boys, and the grandmother of three.
I'm so tired of these drama queen pure people that don't even know what they are talking about...and know nothing about this case.
But the victim's being lynched (I believe unfairly) and think that it's a sort of disturbing tactic.
What's really disturbing is your continuous posts about "frat boys" and your stereotypical remarks. I personally think it's rather slutty to go to bars looking to hook up with men. How's that for stereotyping?

Have you examined the timeline?
Do you realize that there is NO DNA that connects the team to her?
Did you look at the pictures?
Why do you believe her versus the Duke Lacrosse team? Is it because in your mind they are a fraternity (which you seem to have an issue with).
I would like you to give me some information, that perhaps I missed. Links would be appreciated.
It tells me that the Duke lacrosse team was out of control frankly. The fact that they were so bad that it came to the administration's attention (generally hotshot sports guys get away with murder) and the coach got a warning means it's serious.
Also, I remember reading in either SI or ESPN that the reason that the lacrosse season was suspended was more cumulative than anything else. The rape allegations and rowdy party were the last straw for the administration.
Ohhh.. Okay, well I guess that twenty-four year olds can't go out to a bar and hang out with her friends or have a beer and perhaps give her email address to a nice guy she met there (not often) and invite him for coffee. However, a bunch of prep kids attending an exclusive college on a lacrosse team that seems to me to be more like a frat than anything else can hire strippers and harass the girls... And nobody takes the accusations seriously.
You and the DA seem to be taking them seriously - obviously for different reasons.

After the guy said he planned to kill strippers, I would think everyone would want to know where these guys get their arrogance from.
I notice he and Seligmann are both from New Jersey(The muslim capital of the US). ??? Bad associations often times account for unexplainable behavior.

This post doesn't deserve a response, and except for the above you will get none from me.
Frankly, I think that she's being smeared on websites like this and on talk radio before her story's been heard. Plus, there seems to be a willingness to merge her story with the other stripper's background.
In rape case, I'm always willing to believe the victim over the accuser. There's still a strong stigma against rape victims in this country and a tendency to "blame the victim" as it were. Women are still thought to deserve it (especially in date rape situations) if their skirts are too tight, if they had a drink at the party, if they work as strippers, etc...

But haven't you also been stereotyping the accused?
The main reasons I don't think rape happened is not because I don't think stripper can be raped or that I think nice college boys are incapable of rape but because so far the evidence revealed does not argue for it.
How is it possible that 4 persons in the confined space of a bathroom, with one of those persons putting up a struggle left no DNA evidence? How is it possible that the accused did not get injured in the struggle? ( if they did I have not read about it). And I don't mean injured by the victim but by banging up against the sink, toilet, tub or even by falling on the tile floor. Also how could what is said to have occurred happened in so small a space. If it was one accused and one victim I might see it as possible. But 4 men sexually assaulting one woman in a regular sized bathroom. Nope just can't see it.
She's counting on you to be dumb enough to help her trash these boys.
After all, she's entitled to some of their money, isn't she?
The travesty in this story is that people like you are doing a huge disservice to the woman who is being raped this very night and nobody is going to believe her.
