Many of the men here have had the same problem with women, but they dealt with it on their own.

Is your point that there is a duty to wake your spouse up? Generally, the acts leading up to any consummation would do that. However, that is not the essential point. The man may be an insensitive slob--a contemptible oaf. It is not the business of society in anything but the most absolute tyranny, to intervene in such matters.

No one has a right to sexual contact with another without the affirmative consent of the other. I believe that is not something reasonable people would differ on.

My point is that affirmative consent must be given; you have to conscious to give a consent.
That's it.

That affirmative consent is the whole purpose of marriage. It was not to obtain tax benefits, or employee related benefits, or any of the other silly things people discuss today to trivialize it.

I can't believe anyone would assert that marriage is only about involuntary sex or reducing the woman to a chattal state for sexual gratification by a selfish male.
If she says no (or doesn't say yes) or clearly indicates it, it means no, regardless of who she is married to.

Anything beyond it is sexual assault. As my wife says, she married a real man who doesn't have turn to an archaic biblical law to justify bad behavior. Mrs. Creek didn't marry Johnny Taliban.

It is not rape or sexual abuse to have sex with your mate. Key word: with. You have sex WITH your wife when she is actively, willingly participating. This guy was simply having sex UPON his wife--she wasn't even acting as his wife in that moment. She was merely an orifice, a mass of tissues.

I understand what you mean about the marriage contract, but I don't think anyone signs on to allow another person to "have sex with them" in their sleep...
It seems... immoral... to me, to do that to someone, especially someone you are supposed to love, respect, and protect (as a husband).
I dunno...

An arrest affidavit stated that the woman reported being awakened about 30 times over the last year to find her husband having oral sex with her.
Many was the time I was awakened by my now ex-wife perpetrating the same crime upon my person. Somehow I missed the fact that I was supposed to feel violated.
In all seriousness, while I do not feel that a man has an absolute right to impose his will and exercise his husbandly perogatives upon his wife, the is understood to be lowered between husband and wife. A man should be able to grab his wife's ass as she walks by without penalty even though doing this to a strange woman is a crime. I used to try to get my ex-wife in the mood when she was asleep. She would either awake frisky or tell me to stop and go back to sleep. I respected her decision either way.
What We Are About To Do Here Is What The Good Lord Would Call A Cleansing of the Wicked. I Call It A Good Old Fashioned Texas Ass Kicking.

Yeah I wish I could convince my wife that I don't mind, even if she doesn't want me to do it to her.

LOL...You have not been on Free Republic sex threads much, then! Luckily, they don't get out much and most are very divorced. :)
