The 16-year-old "love child" of New York Yankees pitcher Randy Johnson said her star father coldly responded to letters she sent to him and that she cannot bear to watch him pitch on TV anymore, the New York Post reported Wednesday.
"I would get cards back from him with just his signature 'Randy,' " said Heather Renee Roszell, who sent the letters in an effort to meet Johnson.
Johnson broke off his relationship with the girl's mother, Laura Roszell, 46, while she was pregnant, and he has seen Heather only once, shortly after she was born. He does have "reasonable visitation rights" from a custody agreement, Roszell told the Post.
Heather, who lives with her mother in Langley, Wash., told the Post that she stopped writing letters because "I never got [more of] a response, so it got to the point where I didn't want to deal with not getting the response.
"I don't have a relationship with him."
Johnson is suing Laurel Roszell for $97,000 for child-care payments he made for Heather, according to court documents revealed by the New York Daily News and New York Post on Tuesday.

Guy can't win. It's quiter apparent he didn't want to be involved with the daughter. He made that clear. And almost a million one isn't "some child support". He met his obligations. The girl now wants nothing to do with him, except the right to continue to pillage his money.

I've despised Johnson since he choked his way to Houston

Okay, I'm not a guy so maybe you think I'm out for the money. And no, I'm not a socialist either.
But this pi$$ poor excuse for a father wants nothing to do with his daughter. Sorry, he was man enough to do the act, he should be man enough to want to be a part of his own child's life. He doesn't. And he's a millionaire many times over. So he can pay. She's not asking for freakin' Harvard either. Community college.
End of subject as far as I'm concerned.

well we all know Randy is an all-time red-ass....
If you are a left-handed batter, someone who just hit a homer off of him, a NYC cameraman or a BIRD, he's going to go after you.
Unfortunately it appears that we are going to have to add 16 yr old daughters on that list as well...

Funny that she no longer wants a relationship with him, but she still wants his money, and more of it. While there certainly are women who need alimony and child support, my guess is everyone on this thread knows one or two who use the ex's dough to pay for life's luxuries while living with the new boyfriend.

This is not about the money, paid or still owed or in dispute, nor is it about the relationship with the woman who bore his child -- that obviously ended years ago.
It is about the lack of a relationship between the Mr. Johnson and his daughter. Evidently, he has absolutely no concept of his responsibility for being a father except the $$$ since he has seen her ONLY ONCE since she was very young. For that I cut him no slack. Jerk.
And he left Seattle I hear because (in part) he felt the Mariners front office didn't give him adequate sympathy when his father died. Gee, he certainly has a good grasp on family relationships and what is important in life, eh? Jerk.

Keeps coming back to the money, though, doesn't it? I know a lot of people who could survive quite well on 60K a year. That woman got $1,250.00 per WEEK to support her child. That's a lot of pablum, diapers and sneakers, agreed? But the infanta shouldn't have to survive on that, or budget it for the future because Dad's a multimillionaire? So what. He wasn't when he started paying, but he paid.
The article, or a post said Mom dumped him because of his temper. Would you want a guy like that around your kid? Since they didn't part well, and he's made all his support payments, why does he have to get involved with the kid? Because SHE wants it? Is he supposed to fake caring? Why?
I don't know if Moms ever got any job during the 16 years, but assume she did, because Randy paid nine grand a year for day care, and is only claiming renumeration for the last five. If community college is so cheap, why didn't she put away anything for it? The kid's 16. Let her get a summer job, or take a couple of years to save up. By my rough computation, he paid her over a million dollars. She couldn't save any?
My supposition is that she figured Johnson would pony up. If I were a betting man, she pushed it to the point where if he didn't, they'd go public. Instead he sued for the child support that wasn't required to be paid.
And merely because he can pay, doesn't mean he should have to. That position IS socialism.

I'd say the ex-wife's made out very well. And I can almost guarantee she didn't entirely use the $5,750 PER MONTH as "child support" and "day care."
Johnson may be a jerk, but he's ALREADY paid this woman a bloomin' fortune for the privilege of knowing her. Geeze, what a stingy gut you are! The sob agreed to that amount in 1997 when his daughter was eight or nine years old, and he was a multi-millionaire. There is no indication of what he paid before then.
His child should be allowed to live comfortably. And $5750.00 a month isn't that generous considering child support is based on income. This woman gave him a break by not taking his sorry ass to court years ago. I hope she gets the best lawyer his money can buy and gets his payments quadrupled + has to pay for college, car and anything else she's done without.
The jerk rejects his daughter and now wants to sue to get some of his money back? He doesn't want to buy her a friggin computer? D*ckhead is too good a word for this sonofabitch.

5k a month sounds quite generous for one child. Even including college expenses, if she can handle the work.

If it's all about the relationship, why do they want money for a car and college, especially since the girl doesn't want anything to do with him? Ever think the threat to go public with the story was a pressure tactic to get Johnson to cough up MORE money, and that it backfired when he threw them a curve and went public by seeking the child care that wasn't used for child care? It's ALWAYS about the money.

Read the rest of the thread. There are some good legal reasons why Johnson may be taking this action.

I'm sure he went to the Shawn Kemp school of parenting....

And here I though child support was based on the requirement to assure the child's survivability. Apparently, if your Mom hits it right, it's an entitlement to "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous". Don't think so. And in excess of a million buck should support a child quite nicely, until she saves some money, maybe gets a part-time job, and starts paying for her own stuff, like a computer, a second hand car, student loans for college; ASSUMING, of course, that none of the $1,250.00 a week he laid out [without computing the daycare]made its way into any savings account.

I did read the thread. Randy Johnson a pathetic excuse for a father for doing this and I hope a judge will make him long for the few years he only had to cough up $5750.00 per month.

Sounds more like the Julius Erving Parenting Institute. Grads of Shawn Kemp U usually have 20 kids, or so.
