OK, new thread for the next week, celebrating the first of many Million point producers – our very own Klutz_Dohanger!

First, a big shout out to the SETI and BOINC members who have added CPUs to the effort. Remember, its Team 36120, NOT Team 0.

Next, congrats to all for bumping our team up to 1011 processors and 305 user names. We have a number of new users in the team, with over 50 computers from GetLoaded.com, a trucking support website, all contributing while their owners ply our freeways keeping the nation moving.

We now have 57 members who have contributed at least 10,000 points each. Woo-Hoo!

Even more impressive, our team now boasts 225 members who have folded at least 1,000 points. That is more than the entire number of folders for our erstwhile left-wing environazi competitors!

On the global front, Free Republic Folders is now listed at # 157. We will be in the Top 150 on Saturday!

As we continue to grow there are a number of milestones coming around the bend:

Top 150 by March 30
Top 100 by the end of the May

We have 3,350,000 points so far and have folded over 20,000 WU. We now fold over a million points per month, each and every month! Fantastic!

I notice that in your nifty Folding stats server, if I click on one of your machines, I get the FAHlog.txt file for that machine.

None of the rest of us seem to have that feature. Is that something you are working on?

I tried to sign up but had to uninstall the software when it made it impossible for any other program to run.

Has this happened to others and if so what can do to prevent this from happening so that I may help.

We'll be glad to help! Can you tell us about your 'puter? How old is it, what programs are you running, what operating system (XP,'98 or mac) and if you remember, what http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html version did you download?

It is a Dell Inspiron I6000, 1.60GHz processor 798MHz and 1.0GB RAM.

About six month old, the OS is XP.

the programs are MSOffice, Adobe Professional, Adobe Photoshop, Civ 4, browser is firefox, mail is thunderbird.

It's actually already implemented. There's a section in the script file where you can provide a link to your logfile. From his help section:

USER_MACHINE_LINK

This is a URL that will be displayed if the machine name is clicked on. I expose my folding log file via HTTP, and therefore use this link field to allow me to browse to that log. This is an optional parameter.

IOW, if you run a web server, you could publish your log file, and provide the link to it in the script file. You'll probably have to forward a port on your firewall/router as well.

When you say impossible what happend? Did the computer lock up or did the other software just not run? Give us as much detail as you can...Have you tried re-installing FAH? (I've got to step out for part of the day, others may jump in to help troubleshoot for you. )

Anything else I tried to open would open and then minimize. I could maximize it but the moment I tried to do anything in the program it would minimize again.

I have never seen anything like it. The only window that would stay open was the FAH window.

I have not tried reinstalling.

You can link anything you want there. I happen to use it for the log file.

I thought about providing upload capability to my server for peoples' log files, but some of mine have been in excess of 300K, and I can't support the potential throughput., so...

Like AndyK pointed out, if you expose your log file via HTTP, you can link it. In theory, even if you don't have the logfile exposed externally, if you have a common share drive internal to your network, and put the link to that (for example: \\mymachine\logs\FAHLog.txt) the link would likely work for you (but fail for everyone else).

That's a really good point that bears repeating. I was only thinking of it in terms of accessing the log files remotely, but technically, you could provide local links to files that would be accessible to you if you clicked on them in Egon's interface locally from your domain/workgroup, and had file sharing permissions set up properly.

I've noticed that too. FAH will run fine with most things, but there are a few applications and games that I either have to have FAH pause its operations, or shut it down completely.

Cool! I passed Chris_Primavera during the night! It will only be for a short while. He has a 404 pointer scheduled around noon, and then I will likely never come close to catching him again. But still, I never expected to repass him once he caught me.

Well, I'll vouch for you. I checked on the stats first thing this morning, and saw you back ahead of him, albeit momentarily! Thanks for the kudos - hopefully I'll be able to keep it up for a while. I am thinking of changing all of my installations from the graphical to the console version.

Climbing the ladder is definitely going to be slower going from here on in!

OK, I think I fixed that. If you've noticed any yellow machines, they should be in the process of updating themselves out of it now. I'm offsetting everyone for UDT until this fall.

Any of you guys living in one of the few areas (in the U.S.) that doesn't observe UDT, let me know and I've got a solution for that.

Actually, I don't want to run Apache or other web server. I just want to run a CGI script with PHP.

What is the filename for the PHP interpreter?
Is there a separate PHP interpreter for each of these: Apache, CGI, CLI?
How can I tell if the default configuration of Mepis has installed PHP as a CGI?
(I've discovered that PHP is already installed for Apache.)
What is the path to the PHP interpreter for CGI?

I know these are techy questions and you might not know the answers, so I'm going to ask these same questions on the Mepis forum. Hopefully, they will be able to answer them.
