Why I Support President Bush and the ZOT!

Posted on 03/19/2006 6:29:28 AM PST by thousand dollar hamburger

I think he has a sincere desire to help everyone. he has even gone out of his way to embrace people like Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy. He does not hold grudges as shown by his willingness to bend over backwards to allow terrorist supporting nations to operate our ports. We need this type of benevolent leader.

Our President is not a cheapskate, as he has opened up our budget to give to anyone who might need anything.

Aliens from all nations are welcomed into our great country without having to deal with mundane bureaucratic State approval. Cutting government red tape -- that's the Bush way!

Yes, our Prseident even realizes that occupying as many countries around the world as possible is the best way to spread American ideals.

We are truly lucky to have this great man. I suggest that at 10:00 AM EST, we all stand up in unison and shout -- HOORAY FOR BUSH!!!

So, how do we KNOW we have all there is in the way of Scriptures? Especially in view of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Nag Hamadi texts? And the fact that archeologists are always finding ancient pieces of documents that seem to be "scripture?"

One critical word, there is "seem".

AND. We are reading translations of God's Words and since mankind is imperfect, it is reasonable to believe that lots of errors have crept into the various translations. We have even changed it by making it more "readable" so even though the Bible itself has not "passed away," perhaps it is logical to consider that some of the meanings in some of the texts have.

It would be logical to think that...except that it has zero impact upon God's ability to preserve the message IN SPITE of the potential for error. Given the power of God to preserve His message, and His intent that YOU have access to it, a band of chimpanzees could have done the transcription and translation and He'd have miraculously ensured that they STILL got it 100% right.

[Hmmmm. It occurs to me that, given the theological predilictions and possible agendas of some of the translators throughout history, God might have had an easier time working with the chimpanzees. LOL!]

In any event, this all goes back to the core question from earlier:

Is God cabable of, and has He succeded in, getting His whole message to you or not?

Now, you may have a different answer than I, but my answer is that, from what I know of the message I have, He IS capable, and He does intend that we have relationship, and therefore I conclude that He has, indeed, exercised His capabilities to bring the entirety of His message to me; preserving it intact through centuries of transcription, translation, persecution and human tribulation until this very age. It's a settled issue because His dominion, as God, extends to the complete preservation and transmission -- whole -- of everything He needs me to know about Him. Furthermore, we can be entirely confident that no amount of archaeological delving is going to unearth anything credible that will contravene that message; nothing will extend the canon, nor will anything invalidate the canon.

Let me also be very clear about what I am, and am not, saying:
I am not saying that the canon, itself, is a mystic force to be venerated or capable of its own self-preservation. I am saying that God has directed the compilation of His entire message as it is now embodied in the canon of scripture and, therefore, the canon represents His preserved and intended message to us. It is faithful and true because it is the personally preserved message of Him Who is Faithful and True.

If God is "passive and uninvolved," how would you explain "miracles" and the fact that prayers are answered?

Woah, don't misunderstand me. I didn't take that position, I simply expressed that some have embraced it. God is, in fact, personally and passionately involved, which is crucial to the question of His preservation of His message.

I ask questions because I don't understand something, and not just to ask questions. So if I'm asking you questions, it's because I want answers so that I can better understand your philosophy.

See how that works? And thanks for the answers!

LOL! You're welcome for the answers.

I think your 2,395 either didn't come across to me the way you meant for it to. I was trying to figure out why you asked questions there that I addressed in 2,391.

Thanks for asking such engaging questions; I like it when I have to really pause and think about my answers. I not only express to you what I think, and why, but I get the chance to reiterate it to myself, which helps me continue to refine my own thoughts on the subject at hand.

Gotta run. Have a Happy Easter.

It's Friday; but Sunday's a comin'!!

Oh, no. I meant "here" in the sense of within the Outsider Foundation--though for tax purposes I'll have to ask you to refer to it as the homeless shelter for refugee children from Canada.
